Purple & White Polka Dot NOTD + Tutorial

I absolutely LOVE this simple nail design :) its is easy to do, can be done with any colors you want and looks absolutely super cute and pretty! For this NOTD, i chose to use a purple (GOSH's Wild Lilac) and a white. You can use any two colors you want, mix & match!

Completed Look

Step One: Paint Your Base (optional)
I totally forgot to take a picture, but i used Nailene French Manicure in Petal Pusher. This gives a really nice natural sheen but is also very sheer. It helps to even out your nails while still giving it kind of an iradescent sheen to it.

Step Two: Paint Your Tip
Using your base color (i chose to use GOSH's Wild Lilac), paint a thick french tip. Even if your nails havent grown out yet, you can adjust the thickness of the tip to whatever size you want. I like to take mine in a bit further :)
Quick Tip: To easily paint these tips, take your brush and starting from the outer corner, draw a diagonal line towards the center. do the same from the other side creating a V shape. then, continue to go over this guide and slowly smooth it out. Because my first coat often applies quite sheer, i like to let it dry and apply a second coat. Practice makes perfect so if you cant get it the first couple times, keep practicing!

This is what mine looked like after painting the tips.. you can stop at this step if you want, it actually looks pretty good! but of course, i wanted to add polka dots :)

Step Three: Add Your Dots
Taking your second nail color and a bobby pin (Or if you have a dotting tool, thats even better!), open up the bobby pin until it is a V-shape. Either pour some polish out and dip the round ends in the nail polish or use the brush to brush some on the ends. Then, simply add dots onto the tip!

I used my L.A. Colors Art Deco in White

This is what mine looked like. Theres no particular order for the dots, just dot randomly!

Step Four: Add a line (optional)
This is an extra step for those who want to create a more defined look. Just take a darker color, (i used a dark shimmery purple) and draw a line in the middle.

And you're done!
I actually chose to take off the line as i like how it looked without better. this is completely up to you :) play around and see what you like better! Here are the pictures of my final NOTD:

I hope you enjoyed this! This simple NOTD is currently my favourite :) It doesnt take long to do but there are endless possibilities! Mix & Match different colors.. you can even experiment with more than 2 colors if you want! Share your ideas or let me know if theres a specific nail art design you'd like me to try :)

My Little MAC Haul - Im Getting Addicted!

Ever since i purchased MAC MSF in Stereo Rose and Petticoat (read post/swatches here).. i have developed a slight craving  addiction to MAC products. The pigmentation and texture were really really high quality! And then i received MAC blush in Hipness and lippie in Thrills (from the lovely Lindsay - read post/swatches here) and omg.. i knew i would have trouble controlling myself..

so two days ago, i went shopping with my mom.. and she needed to get a lipstick (oh no.. can you see where this is going?) We ended up at MAC.. trying on a lot of things hahaha and i ended up going home with their blush in Hang Loose, and two lippies - Hue and Viva Glam Gaga!! i absolutely am in LOVE with all three products!! Hue is an amazing nude pink, Viva Glam Gaga.. well im sure you know how pretty that is already! and Hang Loose is so so so gorgeous that i had to put it on right away ♥

- btw - thank you SO MUCH to those who helped me decide which shades of lippies to purchase! i tried on a lot of lippies at the store and finally decided to purchase these two.. thank you for all your help! ♥

Anyways, here are some pictures and swatches! I have a feeling i will be visiting MAC a lot more... :)

Hue - Soft pale pink (Glaze) - I have finally found my perfect everyday wear nude! I have never really liked the whole trend of "concealer nudes" since it seriously makes me look dead and would scare the crap out of everyone. However, my lips can be quite dark sometimes so its tough to find a really good nude shade. I am so so so happy i tried on Hue! It is the perfect soft pink nude and i love it! Plus, the glaze formula is sooo creamy and moisturizing! I have quite dry lips and many lippies tend to settle in my lip lines etc. But this formula is AMAZING and lasts quite a while. Even when the color and glossy look is gone, my lips still feel soft which is the first among lipsticks i have ever tried!

Viva Glam Gaga - Light blue pink (Lustre) - I've seen so many swatches of this and it looked so pretty that i just had to try it for myself. normally, i wouldnt reach for such light pinks (espeically with blue undertones) like this but oh my.. this one is soo gorgeous! At first i found that it was too bright for my liking... and after looking at it for awhile, i started to reall like it hehe. ohh and i also found out that if i blot this lippie just ever so slightly, i get a much more wearable blue pink! Since my lippie collection is filled with much warmer pinks, i convinced myself that i had to add this gorgeous shade and i am so glad i did :D

MAC Mineralize Blush (Duo), Hang Loose

MAC Mineralize Blush (Duo), Hang Loose - Satin bright pink / Pearly lavender - OMG. i cant believe i didnt pick this up with stereo rose and petticoat! I mustve been too focused on getting those and totally didnt see any other products! This blush is soo super pretty! My blush collection as of now has mostly warmer pinks and corals, rarely any lighter pinks. But this cool toned pink mixed with that shimmery lavender gives off such a gorgeous shade! Plus the shimmer adds a really nice glow so i can pretty much skip using a highlighter! I swatched it once at MAC and went straight to the SA telling him to grab me one :) ♥

Overall Verdict -
I am in LOVE with all three products i bought today! i cannot choose one over another because i love them all equally ♥ I will be posting swatches of the lippies applied on my lips shortly.. just had to get this post up because i was sooo excited and wanted to share with all of you! :D I am really really happy i finally started trying MAC products. although the price tag still hurts (alot..) i am beyond satisfied with my purchases. I think their lippies are the best among all i have ever tried! thank you all for helping me pick out shades and bearing with me when i complained about MAC before. i totally take it all back ♥

So.. let me know - have you tried out these shades before? or are there other shades you would recommend? ohhh i would also love to know - what are your must-have MAC products? I need to start gathering a list of products to test/swatch next time i head into MAC :D

Purchases of The Day: H&M Dresses + Accessories

Todays post will be some "purchases of the day" that i actually made awhile ago but kept forgetting to post on. (opps!)

Firstly.. i think i've finally found my dress for my bf's cousins' wedding :) its this gorgeous lacey cocktail dress with a bow in the middle that i bought from H&M. I love it !! :D

I also picked up this simple dress with poofy sleeves. It was on sale for $7 CAD!! Although it is quite simple, i am really liking this as well. it makes my legs seem longer and the poofy sleeves also add some detail to the simpleness :) plus, i lovee the color! natural but looks great on! :D i think i'll go back and get another but in a nude color :) hehe

I also picked up two rings. One (the turquoise one) from Aldo Accessories and the other (the bow) from Forever 21. I love both equally! The turquoise one makes a perfect addition for summer as it goes amazingly well with coral colors. The ring one pretty much goes with anything and is super kawaii! i loveeeeeeeeee it :)

What do you think? Have any of you found any new great additions to your closet? I'd love to hear about them! :D

Wet n Wild Lippie Swatches - Part 2

So to continue on from last times post (click here if you havent seen the first post)... here are the two Wet n Wild lippies that i purchased from their original Silk Finish collection.

Taj Mauve-hal - 553B
Frosty Magenta Pink
This is a gorgeous magenta pink. Its quite vibrant but since it has a slight shimmer, it does not apply quite as pigmented as the mega last lip colors. However, the color does show up well and i do like this formula better as it is more creamy and smooth hence the name "silk finish". I'd say that this is more of a magenta than mauve although it does has some purple undertones making it a deeper shade than i thought. However, it is a lovely color :)

Light Berry Frost - 510A
Frosty Peachy Red with Coral undertones
This is a nice reddish coral lippie. The formula of these lippies give a shine which makes this particular shade look kind of coppery with flash. the copper reminded me of NYX watermelon but after comparison, this shade is darker and also less shimmery.

Overall Verdict:
This line of lippies has a great formula. It is very creamy, applies amazingly and has good pigmentation. The only thing i would complain about is that there is limited shades. Most of the lippies available at my drugstore tend to be darker shades. I would recommend these though, because they are such a good deal for the price paid ($1.99 CAD). Another problem, as with the other wnw lippies, are that the shade names only appear as numbers on the packaging and the lippie doesnt swirl all the way back.. which could be both good or bad depending on what you think. good in that you can see the color, bad in that you might take a chunk out of it when you take the lid off.. so you have to be careful! Overall, great formula, highly recommend if you find a shade you like!

Compared to Mega Last Lip Color:
If you have dry lips, stick to the silk finish lippies as they apply much more creamier. if not, check out the mega last lippies! Both have great pigmentation but the Mega last are matte shades while the silk finishes have a shine in them. Packaging wise, i'd go for the Mega last as it looks much higher quality. I also like the smaller width of the lippie as it makes it easier to apply. I also find that the Mega last seems to have a better variety of choices when it comes to shades and color. They have a wide range from light pinks to deep reds. With the silk finish, because of the shine, they tend to be more sheer so all the colors seem to be quite similar. Overall, it really depends on what you're looking for. Silk finish for hydrating, glossy lips and Mega last for matte, highly pigmented lips.

Have you tried these before? let me know what shades you got! i would love to test out some other shades :)

P.S. - I added some "share this post" buttons on the bottom of each of my posts. Feel free to share and spread the word if you enjoyed the post! <3 thanks!
