Another drugstore blush rave!

Last time around, i raved about L'oreal's true match blush in innocent flush, (click here for review and swatches) well.. this time, its the Rimmel London Powder Blushes! I have these in 3 shades, 101 Pink Sugar, 102 Santa Rose and a new addition to my collection, 001 Spring Flower.

101 Pink Sugar

a gorgeous shimmery pink, if you love the usual pink blushes, you'll love this one as well! It is filled with shimmers but once applied, doesnt look too overly shimmery :)

001 Spring Flower

this blush gives you variety and choice :) although the sections of each shade is not too big, you could definitely use each separately or mix and match to your liking. I like mixing the two lighter shades for a natural light pink cheeks and adding on the darker rose shade for nights out :)

102 Santa Rose

this is my favourite out of the three shades because the color is different from my usual pinks and corals. This is more of a muted nude pink which is GORGEOUS for everyday wear :) shows up as just a slight neutral flush <3 loveee it!

Packaging 3.5/5
Simple open and close compact, definitely less bulky compared to other blushes. However, the lid feels a bit filmsy and can get loose and shaky over time. A brush is included, but in my opinion, it sucks and does not add any value to the product. Overall, the compact itself is nothing too special but your blush should be safe unless you plan on throwing it around alot.

What i really DID like about the packaging though, was the attention to details. That is, im talking about the cute little crown embedded into the blushes! Super cute and makes the blush look like its worth a lot more than well, $5?

These blushes are really great! As per great blushes, they have a nice texture, great pigmentation and blend amazingly well into your skin to give you a nice flush. Plus, these blushes also last a LONG time on your cheeks so you wont have to risk the shaky lid and throw these into your makeup bag for touch ups :)

Pros:

Cons:
- filmsy lid, can get loose
- brush included is not good

Overall
i love love love these blushes! These are definitely AMAZING drugstore finds and i would highly recommend everyone to take a look! The shades are gorgeous and for $5, you really cant go wrong :)

In case you're wondering which i like better, this or the l'oreal true match? well.. i cant reeeally choose, i am a huge fan of both :) but i would say that the rimmel blushes have more of a "pretty and more dressed up than normal" feel as they do have a really pretty shimmer whereas the l'oreal true match are all matte shades and provide a really "everyday natural" finish :D

i cant believe i stopped using this!

Ive had this huge crush on this one blush - L'oreal's true match in Innocent Flush (n3-4) since... forever lol well actually, this is my second compact already so you can tell how much i loveeeeed it! but ever since i started hauling more, i've forgotten about this for the past little while :(


Anyways, i've been seeing alot of fellow bloggers post on "forgotten makeup products" or posts about "stopping their own stash" and totally got inspired to take a peek into mine :p looking back into what i have, i'm finding quite a few gems that really needs to come out of the drawer and into my makeup bag! :D


So, today's post is going to be this one blush that i absolutely adore but sadly, forgotten about until now :(

This comes in your average compact case with a mirror and blush included for easy touchups on-the-go. There is a clear lid so you can see the shade inside and the overall compact isnt too bulky. 

I actually find the included brush to be a LOT better than any other i've tried. its reasonably soft and is also slightly angled! The only downside to the packaging (other than the cheap looking silver plastic) is that the brush touches the mirror slightly when the compact is closed causing the mirror to get blurry at times.

Product - 5/5

First off, this blush is a gorgeous matte true peach shade which gives off a very natural flush to the cheeks when applied. It is super soft and silky (the softest & silky-est blush i've ever felt!) and super blendable. The pigmentation is great and is easily picked up by any powder/blush brush. The color goes on lightly to give you a light flush, but can definitely be built up heavier to give more of a peachy rosy cheek.

Overall

I absolutely love this blush and have heard it is a close dupe for MAC's peaches but i dont own that blush so i cant be certain. Looking at swatches, peaches seems to be slightly darker?

But, i can definitely say that if you have fair-medium skintone, this blush would look great! For the darker skinned beauties, i would probably recommend that you choose a different shade (loreal offers a wide range of these blushes) as innocent flush may be too light for you.

However, this line of blushes are definitely top notch and im surprised that they are not talked about more! great color, great texture and pigmentation & great price! What more do i need? :)

Tweet My Fav Drugstore Liners - Annabelle Smudgeliners!

Im not sure if you heard me rave about these before or not, but i LOVEE Annabelle's smudgeliners! They are (in my opinion) one of the best drugstore liners out there because they are just so creamyy and they last on your lashline forever! here are the smudgeliners i currently own (i recently got honey and foxy grey as part of my prize in Annabelle's hype it up contest)

btw.. armour is probably my FAV eyeliner shade :) its a gorgeous mix of grey and purple with some shimmer :)

i will be providing swatches of these applied on my eyes in another post! :) but for now, heres a quick review :)

Packaging - 4/5
This pencil measures about 16cm with the two lids and about 13.5 without. It is a very sturdy pencil in that the lids are tight enough so that it wont fall off and i find that the color on the outside of the pencil is a very good indicator of the color inside. On one end is of course the eyeliner itself, but on the other end is a sturdy sponge tip used for blending. I find that this is very handy for days when you want to soften your eyeliner a bit or create a smokey eye effect. Plus, the pencil itself just looks pretty and oh, a big important factor is that the name is printed on the pencil itself so you never forget what its called!

Product quality - 5/5
this is why the pencil is one of my all time favourites! the formula is super creamy and soft making it really easy to apply. plus, the color payoff is superb! Sometimes, the problem with creamy pencils can be that it fades and blends away too easily. However, this is not the case with the smudgeliners! I find that after i apply them in the morning, these will really stay on my lashlines (top and lower) until the end of the day when i go to remove them. There may be subtle smudging near the end of the day but overall, these liners stay where you put them!

Overall - 4.5/5
I love this product :) I believe these go for the price of about $8.95 CAD but sometimes, you can find sales which bring down the price alot :) From the above smudgeliners, my all time favourite shade is Armour! Its just such a gorgeous shade thats a mix between a greyish purple with some shimmer in it :) I think i really need to get a backup of it just in case i run out!

ohh and look at all the other shades available on website! i see some really bright shades that look soo pretty :D

Tweet Wet n Wild Lippie Swatches - Part 2

So to continue on from last times post (click here if you havent seen the first post)... here are the two Wet n Wild lippies that i purchased from their original Silk Finish collection.

Frosty Magenta Pink

This is a gorgeous magenta pink. Its quite vibrant but since it has a slight shimmer, it does not apply quite as pigmented as the mega last lip colors. However, the color does show up well and i do like this formula better as it is more creamy and smooth hence the name "silk finish". I'd say that this is more of a magenta than mauve although it does has some purple undertones making it a deeper shade than i thought. However, it is a lovely color :)

Light Berry Frost - 510A

Frosty Peachy Red with Coral undertones

This is a nice reddish coral lippie. The formula of these lippies give a shine which makes this particular shade look kind of coppery with flash. the copper reminded me of NYX watermelon but after comparison, this shade is darker and also less shimmery.

Overall Verdict:

This line of lippies has a great formula. It is very creamy, applies amazingly and has good pigmentation. The only thing i would complain about is that there is limited shades. Most of the lippies available at my drugstore tend to be darker shades. I would recommend these though, because they are such a good deal for the price paid ($1.99 CAD). Another problem, as with the other wnw lippies, are that the shade names only appear as numbers on the packaging and the lippie doesnt swirl all the way back.. which could be both good or bad depending on what you think. good in that you can see the color, bad in that you might take a chunk out of it when you take the lid off.. so you have to be careful! Overall, great formula, highly recommend if you find a shade you like!

Compared to Mega Last Lip Color:

If you have dry lips, stick to the silk finish lippies as they apply much more creamier. if not, check out the mega last lippies! Both have great pigmentation but the Mega last are matte shades while the silk finishes have a shine in them. Packaging wise, i'd go for the Mega last as it looks much higher quality. I also like the smaller width of the lippie as it makes it easier to apply. I also find that the Mega last seems to have a better variety of choices when it comes to shades and color. They have a wide range from light pinks to deep reds. With the silk finish, because of the shine, they tend to be more sheer so all the colors seem to be quite similar. Overall, it really depends on what you're looking for. Silk finish for hydrating, glossy lips and Mega last for matte, highly pigmented lips.

Morning :) its finally feeling like summer over here... maybe even a little TOO much like summer haha the heats getting to me! but anyways, here are the lippie swatches from my haul. Todays post will feature the Mega Last Lip Color - Wet N' Wild lippies (the three black ones below). Heres a re-cap of the pictures i posted last time so you can know what they look like :)

Think Pink-901B

a matte, light bubblegum pink

Think pink is a gorgeous color. If you're a big fan of lighter pinks then this is the color for you! it leans towards being more cool toned but is still wearable. I always thought i wouldnt be able to pull off a lighter pink but this one is actually quite nice :)

Bare it All-902C

a warm nude with brown undertones

If you're looking for a nude that is not "concealer" colored, then this may be what you're looking for. It has deep brown undertones which makes it a darker tone. Although i dont know too much about MAC lippies, i think this is more in the range of Velvet teddy... If you have pale skin, then maybe this isnt your best choice because it will look slightly brown. However, for medium toned and darker toned girls, this makes a very nice (and CHEAP!) choice :)

Just Peachy-903C

a warm peach color with brown undertones

This lippie is kind of in the middle of the other two.. sort of like a nudeish peach shade. If you're looking for a nude color but dont feel ready to take on a full nude shade, then this would be a nice choice. Its got slight brown undertones which makes it look quite natural when applied, but it also has a peachy color so it does look like you're wearing something.

Overall Verdict:

These lippies are all MATTE, and very well pigmented. I think that for the price paid ($2.99 - 3.99 CAD) they are very well worth it! However, i do have to say that these tend to be more drying then other lippies that i have tried, so you might want to keep that in mind. Another thing that bugs me, is that the packaging only tells you the number and not the shade name. for example, think pink would only have "901B" on it, therefore making it difficult to remember which one you want to purchase.

 I highly recommend applying a lip balm prior to these lippies. This will help prevent the lipstick from sinking into lines. After applying, i also suggest that you use your finger and gently tap around your lips to blend in the color more. I find that after doing so, the color doesnt look as harsh since these do have very high pigmentation. If you have really dry lips and dont want to deal with applying too much lip balm under & over your lipstick, then you might want to skip these lippies.

Out of these three, my favourite favourite has to be Think Pink. Such a gorgeous color! Have you tried out these before? what do you think? :)
