Ooh La Rouge! Too Faced Duo Blushes

Just some quick swatches today!

Sorry, this is another schedule post i wrote prior to leaving for my grad trip, and well... let me put it this way, theres only a few hours left before my flight and i am here... frantically writing blog posts so i have something to post while im gone haha oh dear..

well, i originally intended to do a full review on these blushes, but im afraid that will have to wait until i come back.. because i really need to finish packing but i wont let myself until i finish writing blog posts lol. so todays post will just be some photos and swatches of Too Faced's Duo Blushes :) enjoy!

Quick review:
Both of these blushes are very smooth and blend very well. The pigmentation isnt as strong as other brands, but i find it quite nice for a natural flush. Plus, these last quite a long time when applied in layers, so definitely a nice blush for spring & summer!
Avant Garde is a goregous shade that really just looks like your blushing from within. On the other hand, Creme brulee is more of a bronzer for me and has more shimmer than avant garde giving a really pretty summer glow.

Overall, i am definitely liking these! just in time for spring and summer :)

MAC Mineralize Blushes - Daft Pink & Fad-Dabulous

Oh how i love blushes!

A little while back, Tiffany from WillWorkForMakeup was having a blog sale and i luckily snatched up two of her limited edition Mac Mineralize Blushes! one in Daft Pink and one in Fad-Dabulous! I dont normally like to do late posts on limited edition products since they arent available anymore, but these are just so gorgeous i had to share!

Note: if you're not following Tiffany already, please check her out! she is an amazing blogger and i love each and every single one of her posts! Im sure you will too so go visit her blog when you can! <3

Arent they absolutely gorgeous! Both Daft Pink and Fad-dabulous came out with MAC's Colour Craft Collection and since I was huge on MAC products back then, I missed out. Thanks to Tiffany though, i now have two more gorgeous blushes to add to my collection! <3

arent they pretty? hehe i seriously cant get enough of blushes, and if only MAC blushes werent so pricey, (or if i won the lottery and became super rich) i'd probably go buy every single one they have! i am seriously addicted to blushes haha.. but im sure im not the only one! ;)

Drugstore Blush RAVE - Rimmel Powder Blush

Another drugstore blush rave!

Last time around, i raved about L'oreal's true match blush in innocent flush, (click here for review and swatches) well.. this time, its the Rimmel London Powder Blushes! I have these in 3 shades, 101 Pink Sugar, 102 Santa Rose and a new addition to my collection, 001 Spring Flower.

Pink Sugar, Spring Flower, Santa Rose

Spring Flower,
Pink Sugar, Santa Rose

Some close ups of each :)

101 Pink Sugar
a gorgeous shimmery pink, if you love the usual pink blushes, you'll love this one as well! It is filled with shimmers but once applied, doesnt look too overly shimmery :)

001 Spring Flower
this blush gives you variety and choice :) although the sections of each shade is not too big, you could definitely use each separately or mix and match to your liking. I like mixing the two lighter shades for a natural light pink cheeks and adding on the darker rose shade for nights out :)

102 Santa Rose
this is my favourite out of the three shades because the color is different from my usual pinks and corals. This is more of a muted nude pink which is GORGEOUS for everyday wear :) shows up as just a slight neutral flush <3 loveee it!

Packaging 3.5/5
Simple open and close compact, definitely less bulky compared to other blushes. However, the lid feels a bit filmsy and can get loose and shaky over time. A brush is included, but in my opinion, it sucks and does not add any value to the product. Overall, the compact itself is nothing too special but your blush should be safe unless you plan on throwing it around alot.

What i really DID like about the packaging though, was the attention to details. That is, im talking about the cute little crown embedded into the blushes! Super cute and makes the blush look like its worth a lot more than well, $5?

next up, lets take a look at the swatches :)

Product - 5/5
These blushes are really great! As per great blushes, they have a nice texture, great pigmentation and blend amazingly well into your skin to give you a nice flush. Plus, these blushes also last a LONG time on your cheeks so you wont have to risk the shaky lid and throw these into your makeup bag for touch ups :)

Pros:
- great pigmentation
- great texture
- blend well
- long lasting time
- inexpensive 4.5g for $5
- available at drugstores

Cons:
- filmsy lid, can get loose
- brush included is not good

----------------------------------------

Overall
i love love love these blushes! These are definitely AMAZING drugstore finds and i would highly recommend everyone to take a look! The shades are gorgeous and for $5, you really cant go wrong :)

In case you're wondering which i like better, this or the l'oreal true match? well.. i cant reeeally choose, i am a huge fan of both :) but i would say that the rimmel blushes have more of a "pretty and more dressed up than normal" feel as they do have a really pretty shimmer whereas the l'oreal true match are all matte shades and provide a really "everyday natural" finish :D

p.s. if you havent already, why dont you check out my Sigma F80 flat top kabuki giveaway? :) there will be 2 winners! good luck! :D

Drugstore Blush RAVE - Loreal True Match

i cant believe i stopped using this!

Ive had this huge crush on this one blush - L'oreal's true match in Innocent Flush (n3-4) since... forever lol well actually, this is my second compact already so you can tell how much i loveeeeed it! but ever since i started hauling more, i've forgotten about this for the past little while :(

Anyways, i've been seeing alot of fellow bloggers post on "forgotten makeup products" or posts about "stopping their own stash" and totally got inspired to take a peek into mine :p looking back into what i have, i'm finding quite a few gems that really needs to come out of the drawer and into my makeup bag! :D

So, today's post is going to be this one blush that i absolutely adore but sadly, forgotten about until now :(

innocent flush n3-4
a gorgeous matte true peach.

comes with a mirror and a brush that is not TOO scratchy

finger swatch.. this is with ONE swipe!
this blush is SOOO soft and silky!

What They Say:
True Match Blush flawlessly complements your skin’s tone and texture. Coordinates perfectly with True Match Makeup, Powder and Concealer. True-to-life shades precisely match your skin tone and undertone, leaving you with the most natural flush of color imaginable.

A unique Opti-Match Technology formula provides a skin-true texture that blends smoothly, never looks chalky or cakey. Stays fresh and natural-looking for hours. Oil-free, vitamin-rich, and non-comedogenic.

Packaging - 4/5
This comes in your average compact case with a mirror and blush included for easy touchups on-the-go. There is a clear lid so you can see the shade inside and the overall compact isnt too bulky.

I actually find the included brush to be a LOT better than any other i've tried. its reasonably soft and is also slightly angled! The only downside to the packaging (other than the cheap looking silver plastic) is that the brush touches the mirror slightly when the compact is closed causing the mirror to get blurry at times.

blended lightly & then built up heavier

Product - 5/5
First off, this blush is a gorgeous matte true peach shade which gives off a very natural flush to the cheeks when applied. It is super soft and silky (the softest & silky-est blush i've ever felt!) and super blendable. The pigmentation is great and is easily picked up by any powder/blush brush. The color goes on lightly to give you a light flush, but can definitely be built up heavier to give more of a peachy rosy cheek.

Pros:
- super soft and silky
- super blendable
- gorgeous matte color
- great pigmentation
- brush and mirror included
- inexpensive 6g for $6-10
- available in drugstores

Cons:
- silver plastic packaging can look cheap
- brush in compact touches the mirror

----------------------------------------------------

Overall
I absolutely love this blush and have heard it is a close dupe for MAC's peaches but i dont own that blush so i cant be certain. Looking at swatches, peaches seems to be slightly darker?

But, i can definitely say that if you have fair-medium skintone, this blush would look great! For the darker skinned beauties, i would probably recommend that you choose a different shade (loreal offers a wide range of these blushes) as innocent flush may be too light for you.

However, this line of blushes are definitely top notch and im surprised that they are not talked about more! great color, great texture and pigmentation & great price! What more do i need? :)

just looking at the hearts make me happy ^^

--------------------------------

now... lets take a look inside the packaging!

oh.. quick note here, im not sure if i just got a bad product or not, but when i took my blush out of the box, the bottom part of the plastic packaging had a hole in the middle :S at first i thought it was just because it was stuck too tightly to the box so part of it had pulled off.. but i couldnt find the broken pieces anywhere! so.. it just disappeared? :( not sure :(

however, looking up other people's reviews, i dont think this happens often so i probably just had bad luck :( boo.. oh well, doesnt stop me liking the product inside though!!

i really like this design! there is a little button on the side, so rather than having to pry open the top with your nails.. when you push the button, the top pops open slightly so you just lift the lid.. i hope im making sense here! haha basically, all you have to know is that this product is made for us lazy people :) another small step to make you happy in the morning!

underneath the blush, there is a separate compartment for a mirror and a brush.

close up of the brush

it is cute and i would say its better than most brushes that come with drugstore products, but generally.. i wouldnt be using this to put on my blush everyday. However, for emergency cases when touchups are needed, this can get the job done without being overly scratchy :)

and the brush fits quite nicely in the compartment without touching the mirror or anything :)

and just a size comparison....

the packaging is slightly taller in height compared to MAC blushes (MSF on left, blush on right)

width and circumference wise, its right in the middle :)

packaging overview - 4.5/5
although the packaging may seem bulky, its actually not that bad! fits into my hand quite nicely :) the overall product is very appealing with its hot pink metallic case. the plastic is very sturdy making it great to have in your travel makeup bag. the included mirror and brush are also very handy and make great accessories for travelling. plus, the little push-up button makes life much easier ^^

overall,  forgetting about the minor flaw (which should be only limited to my specific product), i love the whole design and packaging of this product :)

---------------------------------------

time for swatches!

all colours mixed

colors separated
lightest peachy pink (background), baby pink (large pink heart on bottom), corally shade (smaller hearts)

colors separated
shimmery bronzey beige (large brown heart), pinky red (small red heart), all colors blended

all colors separated with flash
last shade on right is all colors blended

all colors separated without flash

all colors blended - finger swatch

finally, some face swatches :) this blush was all i applied on the cheeks, no other product other than foundation was used prior.

Product Overview - 5/5
The color is gorgeous! i'd say its a pretty corally pink with tiny shimmers which give off a very pretty glow :) the product itself includes a variety of shades but i like to use it best when they are all swirled together :)

i love looking at all the hearts and just that itself makes me happy :) what i also like is the fact that there is a slight floral-y scent to the product. although i know not everyone likes their makeup to be scented, i quite like this one because it is very light and actually does make me smile when i put this blush on :)

Pros:
- cute hearts design
- very flattering shade (would be good for most skintones)
- gives you a nice healthy glow
- is very pigmented and buidable
- light floral scent (supposed to be violet according to packaging)
- good packaging, very sturdy & not too bulky
- mirror and brush included
- great for travel

Cons:
- a tad pricey for drugstore brand ($16 for 0.24 oz)
- some people may not like the floral scent

So i guess the final question is...
does this blush make me happy?

my answer? i have to say YES! i mean, just looking at the blush makes me smile :) the cute hearts, the pretty colors, the hot metallic pink packaging!! what more do i have to say?? ;) haha but actually, the product itself makes me happy as well. the color is gorgeous, easily blendable and very flattering. the scent (for me atleast) is quite nice and adds a nice touch when applying the blush.

overall, i am really loving this blush and i think physicians formula did an amazing job creating it! we all need some more smiles in our life and makeup application should never be without smiles :) plus, smiles are 100% free and definitely contagious, so go on.. spread the smile! :D
