Get ready for spring with Illamasqua's speckled nail polish in scarce!!

Hello my lovelies!!

Today while browsing at Sephora, I picked up Illamasqua's speckled nail polish in scarce! Their new limited edition polishes are gorgeous and remind me of little cute speckled eggs. For $18, it was definitely a splurge but it was too pretty to pass up! What do you think??

I paired it with Chanel's blue rebel as scarce contains some blue speckles among the pink and I am loving this combo!!!

Gold & Silver Nails

I miss the holidays already...

So i decided to give my nails a slight festive hint to them by using some silver and gold glitter polishes.
I still wanted to keep my nails simple and clean, so i started off with a light pink base (Forever 21 love & beauty). I then lined the tips of my nails with half silver and half gold (U&A polishes) The gold gave a more warm tone to the overall effect and although it may not be really obvious, i liked the ending result.

Using my favorite Tokyomilk candles to showcase my nails

what do you think? :)

Jacob's Nail Polish

Oh my goodness.. I can't believe it's been so long since I updated! Time flies when you are busy! Sorry everyone!

Today I want to show you a new nail polish I picked up from Jacob! They have a new line of polishes and the colors were really pretty! While I was shopping for some work clothes, I saw this on the counter and just had to pick it up!!

Here is jacob's pret-a-porter :) I just love the color!

one coat.. a bit sheer

two coats

I have yet to test out the wear time on these polishes, but so far i am really liking them! They apply easily (although 2 coats is a must!) and have a very pretty glossy shine to them :) i may be stopping by Jacob's again sometime soon to take a look at the other shades! <3

OPI Caught With My Khakis Down

Khaki is my new favorite green!

I picked this up recently at Sephora and after putting it on my nails, i instantly fell in love with the color! <3 The shade i got is called "Caught with my khakis down" :)

As always, OPI's formulas are amazing. They apply smoothly and have a gorgeous shine to it! One coat of this shade was already opaque enough but i have a tendency to always put on two coats. Top this off with a top coat and I think its safe to say that this isnt going anywhere for at least a week or two! :D I also have a feeling that when it comes time to take this off.. i will just r-paint my nails with the same color haha! :)

so tell me, what nail colors are you obsessing over lately??

Crackle Nail Effect Polishes from HK!

Crackle Crackle Crackle!

Its the new biggest trend and of course, hong kong has got it covered! While on my trip to hk, i found out that there were many stores that carried a TON of these crackle effect nail polishes in every shade possible! They had an immense range of shades, but i only ended up picking up two (major regretttttt!) because i was scared they'd explode or leak on the way home...

purple crack effect polish, gold glitter polish, blue crack effect, silver glitter, top coat

close up of the nail effect polishes

this is the glitter silver polish that i used as a base.

as you can see, there are fine glitters all over!

Let the cracking begin!

i applied a coat of the blue nail effect polish.. and literally within seconds it started to crack!

cracking.... hehe

and cracking...

this is what i ended up with, its a bit messy but its so pretty!
as you can see, i also swatched the purple/brown shade on top of the silver.

here you can see the different effects you can get with the crackle polishes. the cracks range from small to large depending on how thick you apply your polish. the thicker layer you apply, the bigger the cracks. the thinner you apply, the littler the cracks!

i think the best looking ones are from a nice even coat.. something that is (for me) harder than it seems!

and heres a picture of my cousin's nails. she used a purple/brown shade over the glitter gold polish. the results give a completely different effect!

i totally am in love with these crackle effect polishes, not only because it looks cools (and makes drying nails that much more interesting!), but more so for the fact that you have literally endless possibilities! You can purchase just one single shade of the crackle effect polish, and pair it with every single other polish you have creating different results every time! So if you have one of these crackle polishes, get creative and start pairing! I have yet to re-do my nails just yet, but once i do.. i will test out other colors and post them up here! :D

Got Chipped Nails but No Time To Fix?

Fix your nails quick!

Opps. sorry guys, im not sure if any of you saw that i had a different post up earlier that was lacking pictures lol. i had originally scheduled to have that post up this morning, but turns out, i dont have all the pictures i want yet so i'll have to re-post that later! sorry!

---------------------------------------

Anyways, heres a quick tip that i used during my grad trip in hong kong!

I originally had painted my nails with the longest lasting polish i could find (forever 21 polishes, swatches here) but after around 2-3 weeks, i did end up having chipping, which is normal.

So what do you do when you have chipped nails but have no time to re-do all your nails?

Since i didnt bring any nail polish remover to hong kong, and really didnt feel like buying any since i have alot at home.. i went out to buy a glittery pink polish from sasa and did this :)

take a glittery polish and paint the tips!
With a glittery polish, you can slowly build up layers without worrying about creating perfect tips. Not only does this cover up your chipped ends giving you a few extra days before you have to re-do everything, but it also creates a nice new gradient effect :)

Note: it doesnt have to be a glittery polish, but i found that these types are the easiest to use in a rush because you dont have be exact and your nails will still turn out great!

chipped nails before, chipped nails after!

afterwards :)

without flash

i also added some pearls just for fun :)

and thats it!

pretty simple right? of course, you dont have to wait until your nails are chipped to do this, you could always do gradient effect nails whenever you want! i just found that this was a good trick to keep from re-doing a whole set of nails, especially when you dont have much time but still want your nails to look good! :D all you need is a glittery polish (i LOVE the ones with multi-sized chunks) and you're all set to go :)

Pray For Japan NOTD

Pray for Japan

Im sure we all heard about the events happening in Japan right now, and really.. we should all take a moment to reflect upon how this affects all of us. It is in times like these when our whole world finally joins together as one in order to help those who suffer. So please, do your part too!

If you can, donate some money, skip out on that early morning coffee of yours or maybe that really pretty blush you're lemming for. Sacrifice a little and help out others in need. If you're tight on funds yourself, then the least you can do is say a little prayer. Anything and anyone can help :) so dont just sit back and watch as the world helps japan, take part and do what you can as well :)

Anyways, with that out of the way lol my friends having his birthday bash at a club downtown calgary tonight and the best part it, the theme and whole thing is for Japan. Our covers (or part of it) will go to help those who suffer in Japan and i love the whole meaning behind it! So... not really thinking i could pull off a "japanese styled makeup", i decided to do a little japan notd :) enjoy!

haha sorry. my second nail is chipped :(

and a full fotd, i'll do a separate post on my eye makeup :)

hope you all had a good week! take care <3
