Mini Sephora Haul!

Hello my lovelies!!

Its that time of the year when beauty insiders get 15% off our Sephora purchase! I didn't go too crazy with my haul, just picked up two things. One that I knew I was going to get before I got to Sephora, and the other completely unknowingly but I'm so excited to try it!

Fresh's sugar lip treatment is currently my all time favorite lip balm! Ever since I got it as my Sephora birthday gift, I have been addicted! It smells like sweet lemon meringue and moisturizes so well!

I have been looking for a new tinted moisturizer since... forever. I have been using my Origins vitazing for the longest time and while i love it, I was looking for something more formulated to help control my shine etc. So while browsing the aisles at Sephora, I came across Tarte's amazonian clay tinted moisturizer! I tested it out on the back of my hand and I immediately loved the texture. Not oily, not shiny, not drying, not thick but just right. Of course, I cant say for sure until I test it out completely but that review will come later!

I also love all the things its formulated without and how it has spf 20!

Do you have these products? Or what are you planning on buying with your 15% off? Let me know what you think!!

OPI Caught With My Khakis Down

Khaki is my new favorite green!

I picked this up recently at Sephora and after putting it on my nails, i instantly fell in love with the color! <3 The shade i got is called "Caught with my khakis down" :)

As always, OPI's formulas are amazing. They apply smoothly and have a gorgeous shine to it! One coat of this shade was already opaque enough but i have a tendency to always put on two coats. Top this off with a top coat and I think its safe to say that this isnt going anywhere for at least a week or two! :D I also have a feeling that when it comes time to take this off.. i will just r-paint my nails with the same color haha! :)

so tell me, what nail colors are you obsessing over lately??

Birthday Haul :D

Today is my 21st Birthday!!

*yay* I am now offiicially legal everywhere in the world :D haha feels pretty good!

Anyways, since im writing this post the night before, i cant really tell you what i did for my birthday just yet :p but here are some items that i hauled as a little present to myself hehe :D i didnt go too crazy because my new years resolution was to spend less lol so i told myself that after my birthday.. i will stop spending as much and restrain myself from purchasing items/products that i already have. hope it works out! lol

firstly, i picked up my free birthday gift from sephora

this year, the birthday gift is a vanilla birthday cake shampoo, shower gel and bubble bath from philosophy. Although i really wanted the gift from last year (which changed AFTER i got my bday gift) i have to admit, this stuff smells REAL good :D cant wait to try it!

Next, i stopped by MAC to take a look at their new collections :) I usually dont buy MAC even though i LOVE their products... cause they are pretty pricey and they add up FAST! lol but i swatched several of their products (i'll post swatches of the Peacocky eyeshadows i swatched in a separate post) and found two i really really liked! So i thought, why not :) i'll treat myself to a little birthday MAC gift hehe

i ended up getting the "let me pop" paintpot from the cham pale collection, as well as Dalliance eyeshadow from the peacocky collection.

Dalliance is a gorgeous white gold shade with green undertones.. i will do a separate post for review and swatches! but let me tell you, the peacocky eyeshadows are REALLY pigmented and buttery! plus, they are HUGE! haha much bigger than the normal eyeshadows :)

Let Me Pop is a gorgeous coral paintpot with gold shimmer. although i saw some reviews of the cham pale collection having gritty paintpots, i swatched this several times and so far, i think this ones pretty smooth! however, i do have to say it is very shimmery and not as pigmented as other paintpots.. still, i LOVE the color!

I also stopped by Zellers to pick up some more moisturizer since i was running low.. unfortunately, they didnt have any of my favourite in stock :( and i refuse to use any other! lol on the good side, i finally found wet n wild's LE holiday palettes! I was SUPER STOKED for these as im sure you know by now, these palettes are my all time favorite drugstore palettes :) and the new LE ones have such gorgeous colors plus many MAC dupes! *yay* i waited for these to come to canada for so long :D

i got 3 palettes out of the 4 :)

golden goddess

sugar plum fairy

night elf

finally, to end off my makeup haul lol, i did stop by smashing cosmetica up in crossiron mills. For those who were a fan of this store like me (this was my fav store in that mall!), i am sad to say that they have now closed down that location :( if you're in the calgary area, the next closest smashing cosmetica will be in banff :( *boo*

BUT, good news is that before they closed, they actually had a pretty good sale! the majority of their products were all sold for $5!!! So i picked up several items i've been wanting to try :)

Firstly, i got thebalm shady lady eyehsadows! i've always wanted the full palette, but since they ran out of stock, i chose 4 shades which i loved :)

mischievous marissa, luscious lani

all about alex, just this once jamie

again, i will do a separate post to review and swatch, but i have to say, these are SOOO buttery and pigmented its crazy! i loveeeeee them and wish i tried them earlier!! <3

Along with the eyeshadows, i also picked up Becca's shimmering skin perfector.. which i think is like a highlighter :) this normally retails for (i think) around $50!! so picking it up for $5 is AMAZING! :D i've never tried anything from this brand, but this looks promising :)

Last item from smashing cosmetica was a stila lippie in olivia :) never tried their lippies but this shades looked like a pretty everyday shade so i couldnt help myself hehe

look at the pretty packaging!!

I also picked up a ring and a pair of suede gloves from H&M. i absolutely LOVEE the ring! and the gloves are pretty and classy hehe and they will keep me warm <3

love love love big ringss :D

warm suede gloves :)

Finally, the last two things i got are kind of random but i love them :) of course, i HAD to get my all time favourite cupcakes hehe these are the red velvet cupcakes from buttercream and they are sooo good! not too sweet but just the perfect balance between the cupcake and icing <3 love love love!

and then, i saw this pink hourglass at winners and i just couldnt not get it lol. i dont know.. it seems pretty random and all, but i just love it :) i think im going to put it on my bedside table and use it at night when i read. this hourglass is supposed to time 30 minutes so that should be a good chunk of time for me to relax before bed :)

So there you have it! theres my little birthday haul :D i will be doing separate posts for each makeup product and provide reviews and swatches as always :) my bf also just hinted to me that he has finished wrapping all my presents so i SUPER cant wait to open them up tmr! hehe :D hope you all have a good day and i'll be back soon with more goodies and reviews!

Possible Chanel Jade Dupe? Find out!

Remember a while back i posted about my new love for green nail polishes in which i reviewed revlon's nail polish in Minted and then thought i found a chanel jade dupe? Well, i finally had time to try out Sephora OPI's Read my Palm! Here's what it looks like....

Swatch with flash - two layers

Swatch without flash
(sorry for the sloppyness... i applied this super fast and ran out of the house for school!)

And compared to Chanel's Jade... picture taken by Karen from makeupandbeautyblog
What do you think?

Final verdict: I really wished it was.. but i cant say its an exact dupe :(

Why? Read my Palm is noticeably darker... and has more blueish undertones than Chanel's jade. Also, (i know you probably cant see from this picture) but Chanel's jade does have a slight shimmer.. while Read my Palm does not. However, i would have to say that this is pretty close.

If you're not a picky polisher, this could be your dupe! I just wouldnt give it a 100%. what do you think? is anyone else out there catching onto this green nail polish hype? i love it! it's so oddly different... that it looks so good! hahaha, let me know if you guys ever find a better dupe! until then.. the search will continue :)

New Love ♥ Green Nail Polish + Chanel Jade dupe?

Ever since seeing pictures of Chanel Jade, I have absolutely fallen in love with green nail polish! Shortly after that, my friend told me that she saw a beautiful revlon green nail polish but didnt buy it because she wasnt sure how it would look. And... of course, next time we went back to look for it, it was GONE! out of stock at first, and then soon after, felt like it was gone forever after the release of the collection. However, as i was shopping for the annabelle pigments a few days ago, i spotted a familiar looking green nail polish on a display stand! I quickly called up my friend to confirm it was the same one, and it was! I purchased the last two and am now proudly supporting beautiful pastel green nails :) super love them!! For reference, this is Revlon's nail polish in Minted ($4.99 CAD)

with flash

without flash, sorry its a bit messy.. did it in a hurry :P

Overall, i super super love this colour! but... the nail polish itself and the formula i was not too happy about. It applies a bit streaky and needs a couple of coats before looking completed. I am too used to the wide brushes now and the normal brushes just dont satisfy my needs. But... i have decided to turn away from all of these cons because i really like this colour :P haha, i can fix streakiness with a top coat, brushes with more swipes, and chipping with fixes in between wear. I guess when you really love something, you do whatever you can to make it work! :P

Now of course, you're probably wondering.. this isnt anything like Chanel Jade! Its wayy to light and pastel-y.. and of course, i totally agree with you! The dupe i found is actually Sephora's Read My Palm nail polish. It is a beautiful colour ($12 CAD), and really is very simliar to Jade minus the slight shimmer! I really cannot justify spending over $12 for a nail polish.. for me, $12 is already alot! I would normally stick to buying from drugstores etc but i was scared that this colour would go out of stock so i had to splurge a bit and purchase it. :) Here's what it looks like compared to Revlon's Minted. I didnt have time to test it out yet (surprisingly enough it is still unopened!) but this is just to give you guys a feel of what it looks like. Once Minted starts wearing off on me, i will swatch this one and put up pictures :)

It looks kind of blueish, but i did a quick swatch at Sephora and loved it! Compared to Minted, it is a lot darker but it really reminds me of looking at a piece of Jade, hence my feeling it is a dupe for Chanel's jade :)

To be honest, i never really experimented with more bright and different colours for nail polish until recently. I always stuck with the basics and everything was good.. until now! i am seriously lovingg all these different colours! I never thought i could pull it off, but once you try it, you kind of get addicted :D Now my nail polish collection is filled with blues, greens, purples etc etc and i also ordered a bright coral colour with my cherry culture haul so im super excited to try it out! So what do you guys think of the green nail polish? Are you feeling it or passing?
