Tweet Frosted Tips w/ White Pearls NOTD & Tutorial

Want some pretty elegant nails for the winter season? Here's a quick and easy notd & tutorial! :) If you have some nail stickers laying around, you can always decorate accordingly to make your nails more fancy!

Step One: Base Coat

take a clear coat or a light sheer pink color and apply all over nail as a base coat. I used nailene's french manicure in petal pusher. I love this because it gives a nice healthy sheen to my nails without looking like i applied anything :)

Step two: Nail stickers (optional)

If you want, you can apply a nail sticker on one or all of your nails. This is completely up to you so be creative! I just applied one onto my fourth nail because i always like to differentiate my fourth finger to add some contrast :)

Step Three: White "Pearls"

taking a dotting tool, bobby pin (or an extra ds stylus in my case :p), dip it in some white nail polish and create a ring of "pearls" along the bottom 1/4 of your nail. You can vary this notd depending on how big your pearls are.. i kept mine smaller so it looks a bit more elegant :)

Step Four: Add some Glitter!

Taking a sheer glitter shade (i used sally hansen's silver slightblade (LOVE this)), apply it heavily to the tips of your nails working a bit of it slightly upwards over the pearls. You want to create kind of a gradient effect with the glitter focusing on the tips so it makes your nails look longer than they actually are.

and you're done!

Tweet Black & White Party Nails + Tutorial!

Heres another fun nail tutorial that i picked up from some other bloggers/youtubbers! i changed it up a tad bit but its quite similar to the polka dot nail tutorial that i did a while back. This time around, we're going to be drawing our tip in a diagonal line to create a fun and cool design!

Step One - base coat & tape!

In the above picture, i have already painted my nails with a clear base coat. This step is optional but it does help give your nails a more healthy sheen to it as the top section of your nails will be left "naked". If you do decide to apply a base coat, please let it dry completely before applying the tape!! if not, you will risk pulling off the base coat and then you'll have to start all over again!

Now for the tape, i would recommend you tape it aganist your hand first to get rid of some of the tackyness and stickyness. That way, you can also avoid pulling off some of the base coat later. When you're ready, apply the tape in a diagonal line like the picture above. You can definately experiement with how you apply the tape and come up with many different designs so be creative!

Step Two - Paint the tips!

Taking a darker shade (im using Nicole by OPI in Black to the Future which is a black with purple sparkles), paint your tips! its okay if you go over the tape, thats what its there for! in the picture above, i applied two coats making sure i let the first coat dry completely before applying the second coat.

Step Three - Peel the tape!

when the second coat is almost completely dry, start slowly peeling the tape off in one direction. the nail polish might come up a little bit with the tape but if you work slowly it should be fine. here's what it looks like after the tape is off! simple even diagonal lines! You can stop here if you want or to spice it up a bit more, you can even add some silver glitter just above the line to give it a boost of sparkle! (picture shown further down). Or if you want to continue...

Step Four - Add your dots! 

taking a dotting tool, bobby pin or anything with a circular end to it, dip into a different nail polish (i used Nicole by OPI in shop around the clock) and apply your dots. just dot randomly wherever you see fit and if you get a bit over the line, dont panic! its fixable :)

Step Five - Add a silver line

Taking a silver shade, follow the diagonal line to give more of a polished and finished look. This can also help hide mistakes and uneven lines!

Depending on the color you choose, your nails could be more toned down like the ones above, or...

you could choose to apply a sparkly glitter silver to make it more fun!

Dont forget, be as creative as you want! For example.. you could apply a silver base coat rather than a clear one to give lots of glitter and fun (shown on the very left). or you could leave out the polka dots for a more sophisticated yet fun look (middle nail). or you could just do the tutorial above but with a fun sparkly glitter line instead of just a silver shade (far right).

in the end. i chose to do all my nails like the far right with the exception of my fourth fingers which i did like the middle nail. i always like to do something different with my fourth fingers just so that theres something different to look at and it doesnt seem as overdone :) hope you enjoyed this tutorial! it'll be back to makeup reviews next post!

Tweet Peach Glitter NOTD - Cruise Nails Tutorial

This is the NOTD that i did prior to heading on my cruise. I originally saw this from a talented youtubber "LOVE4NAILS" and did my best to recreate it. Of course, i suck with nail art haha so it doesnt look nearly as good as hers.. but oh well, i tried :) and i did like how it turned out so here is my tutorial on how i achieved this NOTD. step one - base color

since i was going for a peachy summer look, (and based on LOVE4NAILS' youtube video) i used revlon's scented nail polish in peach smoothie as my base. You can use any color of your choice, just make sure this one is the lighter of the two colors! make sure this coat is completely dry before moving onto the next step!

this is how peach smoothie looks when applied :) and yes, it seriously smells like a peach smoothie! yummmmmm

step two - use a sponge!

taking a makeup sponge and a darker color from the same family, apply some polish onto the sponge..

like so...

and then dab it onto the tips of your nails! please make sure your base color is completely dry because if it isnt, you wont be able to dab the darker color on very well! if you feel like the color isnt going on too well, take your time! let it dry and then add another layer to make it darker :)

heres what my nails look like afterwards. you could always just paint on the color if you want a more bold look, but i like the sponge technique as it gives more of a gradient effect.

step three - glitter time!

i absolutely LOVE  this nail polish from sally hansen. it's 04 silver slightblade, and its pretty much just a bunch of sparkly glitter with an overall slight silver hint. This nail polish can turn any other polish into a whole new manicure. if i ever get a bit bored of my nails, i just paint this overtop and its a whole different look as the sparkles add a whole new dimension! anyways, for this step.. i applied this polish to 3/4 of my nail leaving the very top plain.

step four - add black lines

using either nail paint pens or a brush, dip into a black polish and draw three lines following the shape in the picture.

step five - add silver lines!

taking a silver polish, add two more lines inbetween the black ones.

step six - rhinestone time! (optional)

at this point, you can choose to add a rhinestone to the inner corner where the lines meet. this not only helps hide any mistakes, but also creates a nice center for your nails. You can experiement with whatever color of rhinestone you'd like. heres what red looks like!

or if you like plain silver rhinestones better...

in the end, i chose to go with no rhinestones as i was heading on my cruise and i didnt want any rhinestones coming off during and peeling off the rest of my nail.

this would be the finished look atm if you decided to stop here with no rhinestones.

step seven - add some pink flowers!

taking a pink polish and either a dotting tool or a bobby pin, add random pink dots along the black lines! you can also add a dot where the lines meet if you chose not to add any rhinestones. This gives the nails more of a summery look and also adds more dimension. dont forget to add a couple layers of top coat to protect your hard work!

and you're done!

i hope you enjoyed this tutorial on how i achieved my peach glitter nails that i wore on the cruise. unfortunately, i guess all that salt water from the ocean and water activities wore down my nails and near the end of the cruise, i had quite a few nails that had chipped off :( but then again, i do have others that have stayed perfectly intact.. weird! lol

anyways.. i think i'm going to be starting a series of posts to show my makeup collection atm and my top 5 picks from certain categories.. i have only started collecting within this past year as i never was super into makeup prior to that.. so my makeup collection is probably nothing compared to a lot of you. but with that said, i'll do my best to show you my top picks and swatch them all together for you so you can really see the differences between each product!

Tweet Glitter NOTD & Tutorial

After receiving my VivaLaNails sample pack (read review here), i was really wanting to give my nails a new look, so i found some glitter that i had previously purchased from the craft store and glittered up my nails!

heres the final look!

Step One - base coat

I chose to use a light pink as my base coat. This one is "Shimmer Pink" from Nailene's french manicure set. You can choose to use any color you want! Just make sure that it is completely dry before moving onto the next step! (SOOOO important!)

Step Two - Apply top coat

Taking any top coat, apply it to just your tips! For example, on my finger, i applied it to just the whiter area. Of course, you can always choose to apply the top coat in other areas. The glitter will only stick to this area (if you let your base coat dry completely) so you can experiment and play around to see what look you like best!

Step Three - Glitter time!!!

dip your nail into it! please make sure you lay some paper underneath because this can get a bit messy! Another way you could do this, is by pinching some glitter and putting it onto your nail. Since my nails are kinda long.. i opted out that choice as the glitter would just get stuck under my nails.

heres what happens.. dont worry, thats not the finished look!

Step Four - Tap and Brush

Tap off the excess glitter. I like to tap on the lid so that any excess glitter can go easily back into the container. This step will most likely not be able to get all the glitter off, so take a brush or a sponge applicator and brush off the rest! Make sure you dont brush the tip as it is still wet and may wipe off.

Final Step - Top Coat

Heres what it should look like! there might be some excess glitter but you should be able to get most of it off. Important note - when doing your first top coat, just coat the tips of your nails first (where the glitter is) in order to prevent any glitter from transferring from the brush to the top of your nail. After that dries, wipe your brush and then do your full top coat on your whole nail.

and you're done!

Some extra tips !!

If you dont let your base coat dry completely or you put top coat on the whole nail right away... this might happen..

the glitter will stick to the base coat or transfer from the brush and you wont get a clean tip. Of course, this doesnt look all that bad! If you're going for a messy glitter look, you could actually give this a go!

If you dont want that glitter fallout BUT am too lazy to redo the whole nail....

try dipping a q-tip into some nail polish remover and then gently wiping it over the excess glitter. Most glitter start off silver before being colored so if all goes well, you can actually turn your colored glitter back to silver! Of course, this doesnt get rid of the excess glitter, but it does make them much less noticeable! So for all of you who dont really want to redo your nails to get that perfect glitter tip, try this!

once you get really into nail art, trust me.. you cant stop! so i went on further and tried out my konad plate and stamp.. first time trying in a LONG while, so please bear with me :)

I also tested out the glitter with my previous notd... i know, green & pink dont really match.. but i realized i only have pink/red glitter and i didnt want to redo a base coat just to test out the glitter :)

Anyways, hope you enjoyed this post! Glitter is fun and glamorous but it can also be a bit messy! If you're bored and have time to experiement a bit, definately try glittering up your nails! Its pretty easy (and fun) once you get the hang of it and it makes your nails look so pretty and shiny! :D Just make sure to put paper on your work area so clean up will be a breeze! Good luck!
