Im So Glad We Met Again, Volume Lip

Seriously, SO glad!

The first time around when i tested out Annabelle's Volume Lip Lipglosses, I liked them, but I wasnt in love. This time around, I was sent one (in the shade tangerina) and seconds later, i was frantically digging through my collection for all my other ones! How they were not part of my daily routine i do not know. I think it comes down to the fact that back then, i really did not wear lipgloss often.. shame on me i know :(

but anyways, the past is the past and i am ready to re-review these gorgeous lipglosses for you all! In total, including all the others in my collection, i now have six and have found a permanent spot for several in my purse. Lets take a look at some pictures :)

here are the previous swatches from my collection

cherryoke, metro mango, vivid volume, sweet tweets, iced sugar

and here is the swatch of my new addition :) meet tangerina

I still hold on my previous review with the flaws i stated. Firstly, these tubes are a bit tough to apply since they a tad too sturdy, secondly the name of the product is printed on a sticker which MUST be removed prior to using the product, and finally, there is a lack of pigmentation when comparing hand swatches to actual lip application.

tangerina when applied
However, getting those flaws out of the way, let me then tell you why i am SO glad to find these again. Firstly, even though the colors are sheer, these add a gorgeous tint to your lips. They give you just a touch of color that instantly brightens up your face and that is exactly what i need. especially now that i'm out of school and entering the work area, i dont want anything too "in-your-face" if you know what i mean :p

Secondly, the formula is amazing! Just a little dot and even if you have dry, cracked lips.. your lips will feel insanely smooth! Very moisturizing and not sticky at all (unless you decide to layer lots! and even then, its not even that sticky!) Not only that, but i find that it also helps plump up your lips without that burning feeling which is a nice addition :)

So overall, Im definitely enjoying these again :) Have you guys tried this before? Let me know what you think!

Please Note: The products mentioned above were sent to Pinkbox Makeup for review consideration. No monetary compensation was received and as always, all opinions and thoughts are my own honest personal views and based on my own experiences with the product itself.

Annabelle Volumelip Plumps Like No Tomorrow!

These are the Annabelle Volumelip plumping lipglosses i received from winning their "hype it up" contest. I have never tried these prior to now but am pleasantly surprised! These glosses definately plump my lips and the packaging looks absolutely gorgeous!

packaging: 3.5/5
I lovee the sleek look and feel of this packaging! the rubbery plastic and the overall look of this lipgloss definately feels very high quality! However, there are a few slight problems that i had with the packaging. firstly, the names of the lipglosses are printed above the barcode on a sticker. In order to use your lipgloss, you must peel back the sticker (as shown below) and are therefore left with no name on the lipgloss itself. There is however, the number corresponding to the color of the lipgloss but that usually doesnt help unless you can memorize which lipgloss is what number.

also, i did find the rubbery plastic to be quite hard and therefore, created some problems when squeezing the product out. I found it was harder to get the product out than other products since you did have to squeeze with more pressure than normal. Also, it can create sort of a 'suction' on your lips if you ever let go of your grip while applying the product onto your lip. This was kind of a weird feeling haha but overall, even though i liked the overall look and feel, i just felt it was slightly harder to apply than most other lipglosses.

clear tube , nice but could be hard to squeeze

one thing i didnt like, the names were on the sticker...

which peeled right off!

Product quality - 4.5/5
These glosses do exactly what they intend to do, PLUMP! the formula is of good consistency, not sticky and overall, fairly smooth. However, one thing that i didnt expect was the pigmentation. In the tubes (especially cherryoke, metro mango and vivid volume) these looked INTENSE! i was expecting bright colors that i probably wouldnt be able to pull off but these are actually very sheer. If you apply a light layer, you get a slight tint of color on your lips. Even building up a few layers, i find that the pigmentation is not super intense.  However, this is actually better for me as i like a sheerer color for everyday use. Also, if i wanted more color, i would layer it over a lipstick. But that is just my personal choice :) so please keep that in mind when looking at my rating. These are sheer! if you're looking for pigmentation, you should pass on these.

Anyways, i hoped the swatches and review helped! I will try to post on what these look like when applied as soon as i get some time to swatch them on my lips :) lip swatches are always harder for me to do because i hate swatching them all at once. I find that in between all the wiping and reapplying, my lips get so dry and red so that the next swatch is not as accurate. so..

have you tried these before? if not, are you interested in trying them? :)

Disclaimer: i did receive these products from winning Annabelle's "Hype it up contest" and therefore, did not purchase them with my own money. However, i was not paid or hinted in any way to review these products so the above review is my complete and own personal opinion about the products mentioned.

Annabelle Hype 2010 Fall Colour Collection

I had some requests to do a review on Annabelle's Hype 2010 Fall Colour Collection and had to push it back because I recently just started school again and there was a lot to deal with first week just to get everything ready. Anyways, this might be a bit late, but its better than never! :)

Some of you might have seen me tweet the Annabelle display awhile back when i first discovered it at my local shoppers..

here are all the new products that came with this collection:

HYPE 2010 Fall Colour Collection
Colour Explosion

4 New Custom Quad Eyeshadow Shades
4 Custom Quad Eyeshadow Trend Shades
2 Limited Edition Hype Liquid Eyeliners
2 Limited Edition Smudgeliners
1 New Volumelip Colour

from the display, the ones that really caught my eye were..

the new eyeshadows (sorry its blurry!)
4 Custom Quad Shadows & 4 Mono Eyeshadows - $4.25
8 new seasonal colours for your custom quad case:  lagoon,  fantasy, revolver, tutu, rainforest, ultraviolet, jazzberry, acid reflex

and the new studio pigment sets! if you wanted to test out these pigments, these sets are perfect for first time buyers! When i purchased my pigments, they were each at least $8 CAD, but here you get 4 for $15! (of course, they are smaller sized, but who can ever use up all their pigments? seriously!)

Studio Pigment Eye Pop - $14.99 - 4 loose pigments together in one case - Magnet Eyes: green/blue, cobalt blue, pink, white or Eye Pop: mustard yellow, spring green, purple, black

other products that are included in this collection but that i forgot to picture are:

2 Limited Edition Hype Liquid Eyeliners

$9.50 and available in Mystic black and Electric blue

2 Limited Edition Smudgeliners
available in Honey and Foxy Grey

1 Limited Edition Volumelip Plumping Gloss
$8.50, Poetic Mauve

and some swatches of the eyeshadows.. i apologize in advance because these were taken with my iphone and some of them got smudged... however, i hope you can still see how they look like!

note - i did find that the lighter colors (top row) swatched kind of chalky.. the darker (bottom row) colors however, were super smooth. maybe it was just me?

  acid reflex, rainforest, tutu, ultraviolet,
fantasy, revolver,  jazzberry, lagoon

 fantasy, revolver,  jazzberry, lagoon

acid reflex, rainforest, tutu, ultraviolet,
fantasy, revolver,  jazzberry, lagoon

and finally, here is a sneak peek of my current annabelle eyeshadow collection (not including pigments) although the colors of this collection are super pretty, i dont wear bright colors often, and therefore only picked up Revolver (a mauvy grey).. although i am really liking fantasy... might go get that next time i see it haha :P

i will be swatching all of my annabelle eyeshadows for next post so you can see what they look like! I recently picked up Bronzed Idol, Metallic Meltdown, Divine Diva, Pinked and Nymphet because there was a sale at London Drugs (50% off!!). The left palette plus the dark forest green on the right are really great fall colors! i am really loving them!!

So tell me, have you tried Annabelle's eyeshadows before? Which ones are your favourite? or whats your favourite annabelle product? I know Annabelles a Canadian brand, so many of you might not have access to it, but is there anything that catches your eye? :)

ELF Super Glossy Lip Shine

Whoops! I totally forgot i still had a whole bunch of ELF stuff to review! I get so carried away, especially with big hauls which invovle many separate posts.. my bad! Anyways, here are the ELF Super Glossy Lip Shines that i got with my haul :) I am really really loving these and i think i can say that these are the second best lipglosses i have tried! (with the first being revlon's Super Lustrous Lipglosses!)

The colors i purchased were Candlelight, Goddess, Watermelon, and Malt Shake.

Candlelight, Goddess, Watermelon, and Malt Shake

And now for the swatches!

Candlelight, Goddess, Watermelon, and Malt Shake - flash

Candlelight, Goddess, Watermelon, and Malt Shake - close up pic

Candlelight, Goddess, Watermelon, and Malt Shake - natural light + flash

Product Overview
These lipglosses have very good pigmentation, great shine and shimmer (for those that are shimmery, malt shake is not) and also contain spf 15. The best part about these lipglosses, is that they are not sticky! I dont know how many lipglosses ive tried that are super sticky, and i just cant stand them! (which is why even though i LOVE the colors of MAC Lipglosses, im scared to purchase them due to their stickyness!) These however, are not sticky but instead leave your lips feeling moisturized and soft. All of these also have a nice fruity scent to them which is quite pleasant.

Packaging Overview
I love the tube packaging of these lipglosses! Although it may not look as fancy or pretty as others (and trust me, i am a HUGE sucker for packaging).. these tubes do the job and they do them super well! Since there is no doe foot applicator to pull out, these lipglosses are a breeze to apply. You squeeze out the amount you want (easy to control!) and then apply! Very sanitary, very easy and very quick! Only little problem is, on one of my lipglosses, it seems as if the hole was cut from inside to outside so theres a few rough edges which feels slightly uncomfortable when applying. However, this happened once out of the 4 glosses i tried and ive never really heard other bloggers complain about this so i guess its just my bad luck :(

Pros
- Great texture (not sticky!) and shine
- Amazing pigmentation, colors are true to what you see
- effortless to apply, sanitary packaging
- spf 15, your lips need to be protected too!
- very cheap!

Cons
- some may have rough edge which causes discomfort (but low chances)
- may be harder to find up here in Canada (select Winners may have some) but you can always purchase online (however, there can be shipping charges)

Overall
I loveeeee these lipglosses! The colors are true to what you see, they provide great shine and moisture without the sticky feeling and they are super super pigmented! Goddess is my all time favourite "nude-without-looking-dead" shimmer lipgloss and i would definately highly recommend them lipglosses to everyone who's asking!

Would I Repurchase?
YES YES YES YES YES! I loveee these!! and for $1 each, they are sooo worth it! I have seen several sets of these lipglosses at select Winners up here in Canada.. they're usually a set of 5 for $7.99 CAD so it is a bit more pricey then getting it online.. but you dont have to pay for shipping and wait.. so its up to you! Plus, ELF is now available at Zellers and i have seen a sets of 3. Anyways, i would definately recommend trying out these lipglosses! especially if you're like me and dont like that sticky feeling.

So tell me, have you tried these before? Whats your favourite shade? Mine's Goddess but i would love to hear some more opinions!

And here's what they look like when applied on my lips:
(this post will only cover Maybelline Pink Please and NYX Peach, I want to do a separate post for all the Wet n' Wild lippies and another post for the Revlon lipgloss.) Enjoy!!

Maybelline Pink Please
a Gorgeous Warm Pink
This is my new favourite everyday pink! When swatched, it may seem a bit on the lighter side, but because i have pigmented lips, this actually turns out to be a gorgeous shade of pink :) Plus, the packaging is very nice and it clicks shut so it wont come loose. Only thing i'd say is the smell is kind of lipstick-y.. but its not overly strong so i can deal with it. :) Love this!

NYX Peach
Shimmery Frosty Red
Peach is not peach coloured. haha it is more of a shimmery berry red. I love the formula of the NYX lippies! They all apply super smooth and creamy and are all very pigmented. Heres a comparison of Peach and Watermelon (see full swatch of watermelon here). As you can see, Watermelon is more of a coppery red with peach undertones while Peach had deep red undertones. Personally, i think they should've switched the names for these two lippies! haha but i love them both :)

left to right: Peach & Watermelon

I hope the swatches help anyone who is looking to buy these in the future! I will be also posting a separate post just for the Wet n' Wild lippies so stay tuned for that :)
