My Hunt For A Tinted Moisturizer

Time for a change!

I've used liquid foundations for the longest time.. And to be honest, I don't test out and/or change foundations often.. BUT I've been using revlon's photoready foundation for many months now and am now starting to feel that i may be finally finished a whole foundation!! Don't you just love the feeling of finally using up a product? Haha anyways, So i thought, I should take this opportunity to try something different! A new foundation, or even better, a new tinted moisturizer !

For me, this seems like the perfect timing, springs coming and my skins never been better *yay*, although I still suffer from slight acne scarring, I think a tinted moisturizer with medium coverage will be beneficial :) you know, let my skin breate a bit more haha and reduce that "caked on" makeup look :/ so yup, starting now, I'm on a hunt to find my hg tinted moisturizer!

----------------------------------------------

Products I have my eye on right now:

1. Origins vitazing SPF 15 Energy-boosting moisturizer

This product has received SO much rave I am just dying to try it out! The only thing really holding me back is the price. It retails for around $35 US but in canada, it goes for $44!! I really dont get why its so much more expensive in canada but oh well :( This ones is the one ive been eyeing for awhile, so i think i might go pick it up soon :D Once i do, i'll be right back with a review and of course, to update you on what i think about it!

What the site says:
"This multi-tasking moisturizer handles the vital jobs of hydrating, energizing and protecting to maintain skin's momentum all day. Gives skin the refreshing zing of antioxidant-rich Mangosteen. And adds a healthy hit of radiance that mimics the glow you get from a week's vacation. All in 10 seconds max. Slip it on first thing tomorrow - you'll look like you eat right, sleep tight & don't
have a worry in sight."

2. Laurier mercier tinted moisturizer SPF 20 Oil Free formula

Yet another well raved product, known probably as the 'cult favorite' for tinted moisturizers. It's a tad pricier, ($42 US compared to $35 US for origins) but it might be worth the try! Maybe i'll go swatch some at Sephora and see if i can pick up a sample :)

What the site says:
"Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturizer is a sheer, lightweight, buildable foundation that can be worn by all skin types but especially those with acne prone, sensitive or oily skin"

3. BB creams

I've tried one in the past, misha's perfect cover with SPF 42+!! I loved the formula and feel of this but felt that the color match wasn't so great.. It tends to, like many other bb creams, have a grey cast. Overall, I did like it, but am now looking for better bb creams so any suggestions would be great!! (they aren't readily available here where I live so I can't really go swatch and test out for myself, therefore, any suggestions would be really helpful!)

---------------------------------------------

My Skin Basics:
- I have combination skin, meaning i have an oily t-zone but dryer cheeks
- I have minimal acne scarring on the sides of my cheeks
- I suffer from redness on both sides of my cheeks

What I'm looking for:
- A sheer to medium coverage tinted moisturizer that can cover redness
- A light, fresh, NON greasy feeling tm that lets my skin breathe
- A dewy finish is fine. I may set with powder once in awhile
- A tm that blends easily and doesnt require a lot of effort to apply
- A tm that either has a range of shades, or has one that matches me well
- Price is not too big of an issue, but preferably low-mid range :)

Anyways, if you use tinted moisturizers on a daily basis, or just know of one that exceeds your expectations, PLEASE let me know! :D  Thanks and have a great week!

The Laura Mercier one is my absolute fave! No other tinted moisturizer has the right combo of SPF, oil-free, and color matching. Plus, whenever I wore it (with foundation over trouble areas) I would ALWAYS get complimented on my "amazing" [it's REALLY not] skin by random strangers. I ran out and haven't been able to re-purchase because of the price :(

thank you so much for your recommendation! :D i have heard so much great things about that tm and cant wait to try it out! I currently bought the origins vitazing one so i am planning to try the LM one next since i have a sephora gift card.. :) or maybe i can get a sample hehe. either way, thank you so much! i want it so much more now! <3 <3
laura mercier is good, but have you seen the canadian price for it? it's insane. It got an almost expired bottle off strawberrynet.com and saved myself some money! ;)

The new clinique moisture surge tinted moisturizer is nice too. gonna review that one soon.

haha omg the canadian price for anything is always so much more :( its crazy stupid. I am going to have to follow you and take a peek on strawverrynet! you got such good deals! :D cant wait for your review of the clinique.. :) always love your reviews! <3 hehe thanks justine!
I am dying to try the Origins Vitazing too! :) Its been on my list forever, I just need to get it! Sounds nice and light for summer. I like the LM one, its great, but that one feels more like a true foundation rather than a tinted moisturizer (if I remember correctly, its been years since I have worn it).

hehe hi pammy! i just bought the vitazing recently! used it today and seems pretty good so far :) will review as soon as i test it out better lol. thanks for your info on the LM one though, i think im looking for something lighter... so maybe that covergirl natural luxe one? :) what do you think?
I would definitely suggest the CoverGirl AquaSmoothers one I always rant on about! I know you're in Canada, so it may be a little difficult to find but I'm pretty sure the Ulta here still carries it and possibly CVS (or whatever your equivalent is). I love that stuff and it's less than $7.
Otherwise, the Laura Mercier one is pretty good. Though I will admit that I had a problem with it fading, even with setting powder... maybe I should do a review?

yesssssss! i would love a review wendy :D i just saw your review on the covergirl foundation and now i want that one too haha although i hope my skin wont react as well :(

im going to have to search through my drugstores first to see which ones we actually do have though haha hate how we always get stuff so late compared to you guys! *jealous!* lol but anyways, thanks so much for your recs! got them written down on my shopping list haha <3 <3
Hello, have you tried Mary Kays tinted moisturizer? I just did a few weeks ago and i love it! It covers like a foundation and i didnt get that cakey look once i put powder on top of it. I even used it with my MUFE primer - i use the blue tinted one to help hide some of the scares and uneven tones in my skin from having really bad acne when i was younger.

hi jenn! no i have not! :( i have yet to try anything from Mary kays but heard such good things about their tm and their powder! hmm you are making me very tempted to see if i can get myself one of these tm.. haha will add this product to my list as well and i'll try to check it out asap :) thanks so much for the reccomendation! <3 <3
I have been using the new elf studio tinted moisturizer. It's very very sheer but does look nice with a translucent powder on top. I want to try the Skin79 bb creams!

thanks for the input lindsay! i totally wanted to try that tm when it came out, but im a cheapo and am waiting for a good coupon code (along with the release of other products i want so i can haul a few more items together hehe) but thank you :) i will keep that in mind when the right coupon code comes along! hehe and yessss, skin79! heard so much about those, really have to get my hands on some!! <3
I have been using Kiss My Face TM during the colder months as it's more like a light foundation than a TM. It evens out my skin nicely, and it's free of many of the nasty chemicals. Best thing is it's about $8 for a 1.7 oz tube.

I use and LOVE the Mary Kay tinted moisturizer that Jenn mentioned. I use it ever day (whether I wear foundation that day or not). I would definitely recommend you try it out.

Ooh, looking forward to seeing your review on the origins one. ^^ The only tinted moisturizer I have is one from E.L.F, but surprisingly it works pretty well~ and...it's only $3. :]

I've tried a few BB creams too and they're ok. I think one from Laniege (sp?) has a more yellow undertone so maybe that one would work for you? I haven't tried it but...it seems to be better than the other typical bb creams. ^^

ps. i did purchase the origins vitazing moisturizer recently and am testing it out.. review will come shortly once i feel like i can come to a conclusion on it :D thanks for the wait!
You're welcome! You should totally pick one up since it is so cheap. :D I use it whenever I'm in a rush..hehe. If you end up trying out the BB cream, I will be looking forward to your review!!

Oh yayy! Ok, looking forward to reading about the Origins one too. ^^
