Monthly Favorites - March 2011

Top products this month!

Aww man, I'm always late at doing these monthly favorite posts! My bad! But here are my most used products for the month of march :)

Foundation Routine:
I've updated my foundation routine for spring! Took out my Revlon Photoready and replaced it with a tinted moisturizer for that more natural dewy look :)

Origins Vitazing Moisturizer
(review to come soon!)
I've been really liking this lately because it gives a nice sheer - medium coverage that barely feels like you have anything on! The ending result after you buff it in nicely, is a dewy natural finish :) Plus, it doubles as a moisturizer and skin booster, so your skin will be glowing from all the antioxidants! lovinggg this! <3

Sigma Miss Taylor Flat Top Retractable Kabuki
I can't say how much I LOVE this brush! It's exactly like my beloved F80 but better because it's bigger, retractable and therefore portable! <3 don't forget to enter my giveaway for a chance to win one for yourself! (look at right sidebar for more information)

Blushes

NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Boho Chic
Love love love this! Especially now that I am going back to a more natural "no makeup" look :) I pat this on my cheeks with my fingers and blend. Result? The most natural and gorgeous flush with a tad bit of shimmer! It looks like you are barely wearing any product on your face, but there is a slight muted pink glow with shimmers (if you look closely) :)

Mascara

L'oreal Voluminous in Brown Black
You all know im a HUGE fan of Covergirl's Lashblast Volume, (my HG mascara!) but this month, i've been testing out L'oreal Voluminous and im liking it as well! It definitely gives more volume and a more nautral soft look. Although the lasting power is not as strong as Covergirls (my lashes seem to droop down a bit throughout the day whereas with Covergirl, they stay curled all day long), this is a great alternative for the spring/summer days when you dont want that "overdone-falsie" look :). Im also loving the shade! black may seem too harsh, brown may seem too understated, but mix both and you get a nice balance :)

Lips

Revlon Colorburst in Mauve, NYX Round Lippies in Thalia and Tea Rose

Mauve, Thalia, Tea Rose

NYX Round Lipstick in Thalia and Tea Rose
Spring is finally here! and that means bright pink & mauve lips! <3 I really loveee my NYX lippies because they are creamy, extremely pigmented and inexpensive! They also have a pleasant sweet flowery scent that i dont mind at all :) Thalia (a mauvey shade) and Tea Rose (a bright warm pink) are my absolute fav shades. They add a nice pop of color without being too over-the-top. Loveee!

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Mauve
I loveeed the colorburst lipstick in Soft Nude, but now that its spring, it's time to bring out the colors! I have Carnation (bright pink) saved too for summer, but for this month, i've been using Mauve quite a bit :) Love the shade and texture of this lippie as well :) I think this one is kind of a mix of thalia and tea rose.. its got a pinky mauvey undertone :)

Accessories

Its all about the corals!
I've been mixing and matching my pastel bracelts with gold and corals alot :) It just creates such a simple yet elegant mix! The above bracelets are all bought from forever 21, but on different occassions. I love the bracelet sets from forever 21 because they usualy contain quite a few different textures and designs so you can mix and match your collection!

And thats it for this month! I'll be officially DONE school in about 2 weeks time *yay* and offically graduated in june! *bigger yay!*. afterwards, i will have a LOT more time to blog and make videos :) so stay tuned! I hope you all have a wonderful week! and dont forget to check out both of my giveaways! Information can be found in the right sidebar :)

Monthly Favourites - February 2011

Products I've Been Loving!

A bit late, but better than never :)
These are the products i've been really liking this month! I totally tried to film a video for this months favourites.. and itd mean so much to me if you guys took a peak and subscribe to my youtube channel :D

I had fun making this video, and i really hope it turned out okay lol.. its a bit weird talking to a camera haha but im sure i'll get used to it soon! to be honest, i didnt think so at first, but editing and filming was definitely very time consuming! lol anyways, for those who still enjoy to read.. here are my feb favourites :)

Eyes -

MAC All that Glitters & white frost & Satin Taupe
swatch & review here

Buttery, smooth and pigmented, these are my go-to shadows for my daily makeup!

Glamour Doll Eyes - He Loves Me Not & Brown Eyed Girl
swatch & review here

finely miled, pigmented with gorgeous shimmer, these are great for everyday use but i prefer to use these when i want to pack on more color and shimmer!

Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Whisky and Zero
swatch & review here

This came with my naked palette and ive been using it a ton! They are really creamy, apply like a dream, and lasts all day long :) only downside is that whisky is not available separately so im going to be pretty sad when i run out! :(

Face - Blushes

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush in Natural
swatch & review here

Super cute packaging and design, pretty rosy pink shade with a nice sheen. Also has a light floral scent which i LOVEEE! :)

Rimmel Powder Blush in Santa Rose
swatch & review here
A muted natural pink shade that gives off a really pretty natual looking flush. I use this everyday for schooldays just to brighten up my skin without overdoing it :)

Hard Candy Blush in Honeymoon
swatch & review here

My go-to blush/highlighter! I always layer this on top of whatever blush im wearing concentrating on the higher points of my cheeks to give a really pretty glow. Its a gorgeous light peachy shade with lots of sheen so it works great as a highlighter!

Lips & Skincare -

Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine
Smells soo good, quite moisturizing and has a light sheer pink tint. Ive been using this alot to prep my lips and i really love the smell of this!

Mentha Lip Shine in Spiced Latte
Clear gloss packed with tons of gorgeous silver shimmer! Although when swatched it looks like way too much shimmer, you dont notice it too much when applied. This has a super yummy minty caramel-y smell and is great because the formula is not sticky at all!

Neutrogena Oil Free Fresh Moisture
My all time favourite moisturizer! I've switched back to using this and my skin is totally loving it :) its very light and fresh, absorbs into your skin quickly and then dries to a smooth surface. love love love!

Brushes -

Sedona Lace 12 Piece Professional Set in Pink
pics & review here (face) and here (eyes)

This set has all the essential brushes i need! great quality, super soft, and for a really good price!

Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush
pics & review here

My favourite brush to apply foundation with :) The flat top works really well to stipple and buff in your foundation and the bristles are really great because they dont absorb in a ton of foundation allowing you to waste less product!

Nails -

Forever 21 polishes
swatch & review here

Really impressed with these! Bought 2 for about $3-4 each and tested it out by appling two coats with one layer of topcoat. One week later, i only had minimal chipping! Definitely impressed because im usually really rough on my nails and most polishes only last several days on me haha.

Barry M nail paint
swatch & review here

Won this from a twitter giveaway from BarryM and i LOVE this shade! Its a bright fun hot pink and the formula is great too! easy to apply with minimal streaking and it dries to a nice glossy finish :) you probably could pass with one coat although i usually like do two coats :)

and thats it! those are the products that i've been really liking this month. i would love to hear what yours were :D have a great week everyone!

June Favourites ♥

Now that June is finally over (im a few days late), here are a list of my favourites during this month :) I dont have too much interesting makeup listed because its pretty much been a month filled with school and homework for me.. so i havent been doing much makeup-wise. But here goes :)

1. Green Nail Polish - Revlon's Minted and Sephora OPI's Read my Palm

I am really loving green nail polish atm. It gives a pop of colour to whatever outfit im wearing and is a really fun and gorgeous colour for spring/summer! These my top favourite greens. Minted is a light pastely green that reminds me of easter and Read my palm is a darker, slightly blue toned green. Both do not have shimmer but leaves a shiny coat. However, Minted's formula is a bit harder to work with given that it dries fast and can get a bit thick.

2. Annabelle Cosmetics - Smudgeliners
These have been my go-to liners this month. I love how once they go on in the monring, they stay on all the way till im ready to take it off with makeup remover. They come with a handy smudger on the other end which you can use to blend out harsh lines. I only have these liners in purple storm and wired right now, but im hoping i can catch them on sale again so i can get the blue or green ones! Link to review/swatches here.

3. Annabelle Cosmetics - Mineral Dust Pigment
(I previously swatched Azure in this post, but i purchased 2 other colours afterwards. I will post swatches soon!)
These are gorgeous pigments that pack in a TON of shimmer and colour. One little dip can give you bright vibrant color. They are packaged in an amazing container that has a small opening to prevent spillage. If you have a larger brush or need to pick up more pigment, just twist open the cap! Loving the design of this container :) Plus, these go for $9.99 CAD (sometimes you can find it 50% off!, so definately worth it) Dont forget, i have one up for grabs in my giveaway! If you havent joined already, click here!

4. Rimmel Natural Bronzer
I've had this bronzer for awhile, so its not a new purchase. but this is a really great matte bronzer. Because it has very subtle pigmentation, this is definately not for contouring. Instead, i use this as my all over face bronzer. The soft powder adds a slight tint to my skin making me look less pale. Plus, it has added natural minerals! The swatch below took me a few swipes to get that pigmentation. Although it applies fairly light, this is definately a product that you can build upon and layer if you want a deeper color while still looking very natural.

5. Wet n Wild ColorIcon Trio in Knock on Wood
This has pretty much been my go-to trio this month. Because i've been busy with school, staying up late etc. i really didnt have time to put on much makeup in the mornings. So i would simply grab this and use its pre-coordinated colors to great a soft neutral look. I found that this palette was extremely pigmented so i only needed a swipe or two to create a natural look. Anymore and i could create a darker night-time look. I am really impressed with Wet n Wild's palettes and i highly recommend anyone to try them out!

Honourable Mention: NYX
I really really wanted to include my NYX products in this month's favourites because i love love love them all! However, i did get them near the END of the month.. and havent really used them enough to put them on for this month.. therefore they will be for sure included in July's favourites. :) Hope you enjoyed this post!

May Favourites ♥

Hi everyone :) this is my first time postly my monthly favourites, but being someone who loves to read blogs, i've found that i really enjoy these types of posts. not only do they include a whole bunch of great products in one post, but they also allow me to see which products (after using for awhile) are good enough to be on the monthly post! So.. lets give this a try :) Dont forget, you can click on any of the products for my review and swatches!

 1. Rimmel London's Lasting Finish Intense Wear Lipstick in Airy Fairy

I bought this at the begining of the month and seriously have been wearing it so much.. On me, it is a gorgeous light pink colour that is suitable for everyday wear. Its not as intense as something like NYX's strawberry milk, but its more like a lighter pinkier version of my natural lips. I love how the texture is super creamy allowing it to apply smoothly and as a bonus, it also lasts for quite some time! :D
This has also made it into my everyday routine :) Prior to this, i've always used Rimmel's Natural Bronzer, but since i got this, i`ve switched! I like this bronzer because (as weird as it sounds) its not as strongly pigmented.. maybe its better if i said that it is very buildable. You can either apply a light layer for a subtle look, or build to achieve the colour you want. Plus, all four of these shades have a slight shimmer so it adds an extra glow to your face! Lovee :)

I have developed a new love for grey and taupe nail polishes! My new favourite (which i wore for most of the month before switching to Sally Hansen's Gray by Gray) is Rimmel's steel grey. This nail polish rocks! It has a wide brush which allows me to easily apply with very few strokes, and the formula lasts quite some time with minimal chipping! :D

My new ALL-TIME favourite lipgloss has to be this! (the very first one in this picture) Although this is very sheer, it applies amazingly smooth and smells heavenly! (think tim horton's hot hazelnut smoothie ♥) I find that wearing this on its own is great for those days when i just want a bit of gloss on my lips, and pairing this with airy fairy is perfect for everyday wear :) it is a little bit sticky, but definately bearable and so worth it!

5. Mauve eyeshadows

Sorry the picture's kind of blurry, but ever since i swatched my Artistik Cosmetic's 28 Palette, i've fallen in love with these mauve colours! I've incorporated this into my everyday look and absolutely love it. As soon as i finish up a couple of reports and write my two exams which are coming up, i will definately make a new EOTD featuring my updated everyday look. Then you can see better pictures of these eyeshadows :)

And thats it for now! There are a lot of other products which i tried out, but i think these 5 are the ones that i've been using and wearing the most! I absolutely love all of these and i will most likely continue to use them for a long while :) untill i find better ones of course! oh.. and im sure you're wondering why the coastal scents palettes didnt make it up here.. dont get me wrong, i super super love them! but i just got them recently and havent had time to play around with it yet so therefore, im not going to consider it as a 'may' favourite :) but dont be surprised if it shows up next month! ;)

Also, i am super super excited to say... i've finally placed my first cherry culture order! Since i've been craving some NYX cosmetics for a LONG LONG LONG time now, i took advantage of the 20% memorial day sale and purchased a whole bunch of their stuff :) of course, since NYX is very well priced, my total actually wasnt very pricey! I purchased several of their famous round lipsticks, rouge cream blushes, mosaic powders and a lipliner :D I am so super excited for them to come in and when they do, i will post pictures and swatches! But for now, i hope you guys had a wonderful May! take care

xAgnes
