10% Off Sigma Products!

All through January!

Hope you all lovely people had a wonderful and happy new years! To welcome 2012, why not treat yourself to some gorgeous Sigma Products!

Use code  0112XJML  to get 10% off your entire purchase!

I myself am a huge fan of their brushes, in particular, their SIgmax HD Brushes. They are amazingly soft and dense so that the bristles absorb very little foundation. My all time favourite brushes that i use daily, are the F80 flat top kabuki and the travel version Miss Taylor Kabuki.

But aside from those.. i would really like to get my hands on one of their new Mr Bunny travel sets!

arent they pretty?!

and so convenient too!

That will most likely be my next purchase from Sigma :) although to be honest.. i really wish i could afford their Extravaganza 29 brushes in 18K gold... but can any normal fresh new graduate really afford this?? really?? ahh, a girl can only dream! :)

just look at those pretty brushes!

all you ever need!

and to top it off, a deluxe case that is flippable and can hold ALL THE BRUSHES?

i totally wish they sold the brush case separately cause that would make my life much easier! haha anyone else with me? ahh well.. if anyone's looking to buy that set, at least it'll be $50 off! haha :)

Anyways, i hope everyone has a wonderful 2012! Lets make this year even better than the last :) I wish you all the best!

Please note: The above post was not sponsored by Sigma Beauty. Just wanted to let you guys in on a good deal to celebrate the new years! :D

New Sigma Dry'n Shape System!

Just a quick post today...

letting you know that Sigma Makeup has a brand new product available on their website! This is their dry'n shape system which helps your brushes dry faster and retain their original shape as they dry! :D

Below is some further information taken from their website:

Tired of waiting for your brushes to dry after washing them? Wait no more! Introducing the revolutionary Sigma Beauty Dry’n Shape system! The Dry’n Shape was designed to completely dry and shape your most dense brushes within 4 to 6 hours, guaranteed.

The Dry’n Shape provides the necessary pressure to bristles to quickly and efficiently remove water from every fibre. The fabric used to shape the bristles was specially engineered to accelerate water evaporation, resulting in a faster drying time for your brushes.

The Dry’n Shape is an easy, quick, and effective way to quickly dry and shape your makeup brushes. Follow these three easy steps for best results:

STEP 1:
Wash your brushes using a mild shampoo or brush cleanser.

STEP 2:
Gently press the bristles to remove any excess water. Place the clean, damp brushes into the Dry’n Shape using the smallest band the brush will fit into. Make sure that all bristles are firmly compressed.

STEP 3:
Wait 4 to 6 hours and your brushes will be completely dry and ready to use! In addition to being completely dry, the bristles will be reshaped to their original form. Your brushes will be perfect for your makeup application!
You now have a convenient option to wash and use your brushes as often as you’d like!

sounds pretty ineresting! i have yet to try one but i would totally love to buy one once i get back from hk ! :D for those who didnt know, i am currently on a grad trip in hong kong right now.. i'd love to share pictures and all, but i am just borrowing my cousin's cpu for a quick few minutes right now so i have no means of uploading my pictures. i will for sure post those when i return home though! :D i am having an amazing time here in hk and i hope you are all having a wonderful summer too! take care!

Monthly Favorites - March 2011

Top products this month!

Aww man, I'm always late at doing these monthly favorite posts! My bad! But here are my most used products for the month of march :)

Foundation Routine:
I've updated my foundation routine for spring! Took out my Revlon Photoready and replaced it with a tinted moisturizer for that more natural dewy look :)

Origins Vitazing Moisturizer
(review to come soon!)
I've been really liking this lately because it gives a nice sheer - medium coverage that barely feels like you have anything on! The ending result after you buff it in nicely, is a dewy natural finish :) Plus, it doubles as a moisturizer and skin booster, so your skin will be glowing from all the antioxidants! lovinggg this! <3

Sigma Miss Taylor Flat Top Retractable Kabuki
I can't say how much I LOVE this brush! It's exactly like my beloved F80 but better because it's bigger, retractable and therefore portable! <3 don't forget to enter my giveaway for a chance to win one for yourself! (look at right sidebar for more information)

Blushes

NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Boho Chic
Love love love this! Especially now that I am going back to a more natural "no makeup" look :) I pat this on my cheeks with my fingers and blend. Result? The most natural and gorgeous flush with a tad bit of shimmer! It looks like you are barely wearing any product on your face, but there is a slight muted pink glow with shimmers (if you look closely) :)

Mascara

L'oreal Voluminous in Brown Black
You all know im a HUGE fan of Covergirl's Lashblast Volume, (my HG mascara!) but this month, i've been testing out L'oreal Voluminous and im liking it as well! It definitely gives more volume and a more nautral soft look. Although the lasting power is not as strong as Covergirls (my lashes seem to droop down a bit throughout the day whereas with Covergirl, they stay curled all day long), this is a great alternative for the spring/summer days when you dont want that "overdone-falsie" look :). Im also loving the shade! black may seem too harsh, brown may seem too understated, but mix both and you get a nice balance :)

Lips

Revlon Colorburst in Mauve, NYX Round Lippies in Thalia and Tea Rose

Mauve, Thalia, Tea Rose

NYX Round Lipstick in Thalia and Tea Rose
Spring is finally here! and that means bright pink & mauve lips! <3 I really loveee my NYX lippies because they are creamy, extremely pigmented and inexpensive! They also have a pleasant sweet flowery scent that i dont mind at all :) Thalia (a mauvey shade) and Tea Rose (a bright warm pink) are my absolute fav shades. They add a nice pop of color without being too over-the-top. Loveee!

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Mauve
I loveeed the colorburst lipstick in Soft Nude, but now that its spring, it's time to bring out the colors! I have Carnation (bright pink) saved too for summer, but for this month, i've been using Mauve quite a bit :) Love the shade and texture of this lippie as well :) I think this one is kind of a mix of thalia and tea rose.. its got a pinky mauvey undertone :)

Accessories

Its all about the corals!
I've been mixing and matching my pastel bracelts with gold and corals alot :) It just creates such a simple yet elegant mix! The above bracelets are all bought from forever 21, but on different occassions. I love the bracelet sets from forever 21 because they usualy contain quite a few different textures and designs so you can mix and match your collection!

And thats it for this month! I'll be officially DONE school in about 2 weeks time *yay* and offically graduated in june! *bigger yay!*. afterwards, i will have a LOT more time to blog and make videos :) so stay tuned! I hope you all have a wonderful week! and dont forget to check out both of my giveaways! Information can be found in the right sidebar :)

New Sigma Products Coming!!

Sigma's New Makeup Line!!

I am SOO excited about this! I know I may be a bit late to blog about it, but I still think this is exciting news and everyone should know about it :) As you all know, I am in LOVE with Sigma Makeup. This company has a great team working behind it and of course, great products at amazing prices!

Anyways, the owner of Sigma Makeup, Simone (@Simone_sigma) tweeted some gorgeous pictures of the upcoming products! There will be three new makeup palettes: Flare, Dare and Bare!

Each contains a mix of satin and matte shadows with a dual headed brush included in each palette. Each palette will retail for $35 USD and includes $18 USD worth in best selling makeup brushes. And if you're curious about the quality of the makeup, according to Simone, "The makeup is SUPER high quality :D" which i totally believe because I have NEVER been disappointed with any of their Sigma products in the past :)

Okay, here are the pictures Simone twitpic-ed! :D Enjoyy!

The packaging is veryyy similar to our well loved Urban Decay Naked Palette! <3 love it!

Palette in Flare, comes with dual ended brush E55 and E40
(E55 - Eye Shading, E40 - Tapered Blending)

Palette in Dare, comes with dual ended brush E20 and E45
(E20 - Short Shader, E45 - Small Tapered Blending)

Palette in Bare, comes with dual ended brush E30 and E25
(E30 - Pencil, E25 - Blending)

The dual ended brushes in the palettes
from top to bottom - Dare, Flare and Bare

So what do you think? I amm SOOO digging the dual ended brushes! I hope Sigma will be selling these separately too because i want ALL of them! haha but then again, i really cant choose between the three palettes as well... At first i thought i would go for Bare because im a neutrals-kinda-girl, but looking at the shades in the other palettes.. I want them all! lol :p can you tell its been awhile since i bought makeup? hahaha

Anyways, Simone said these should be on their website in 6-8 weeks! I cant wait till they are! :D Im thinking these will get sold out fast! So if you're planning on picking one (or ALL), I'd recommend you keeping an eye out on the Sigma website :D have a good week everyone!

P.S: Dont forget to enter my Sigma Makeup Giveaway! One lucky follower will win a Miss Taylor Flat Top Retractable Kabuki! :D Click here for more information on how to enter!

My HG Sigma Brush Is Now a Staple In My Purse!

of course, i'm talking about my new
Sigma Hollywood Glamour Flat Top Retractable Kabuki !!

As part of the amazing affiliate program at Sigma Makeup, I was able to receive a Miss Taylor Retractable Kabuki to reivew and giveaway! (Look out for the giveaway post in the next few days!)

Im pretty sure by now you guys know how much i LOVE my Sigma F80 flat top kabuki brush (review here). It is my all time favorite brush to apply foundation with, definitely HG material! Well, ever since I got my F80, i've been eyeing this retractable version of it and now I can happily say that it is finally in my hands and has quickly found its own spot in my purse :)

Brush comes in a cute little box packaging

compared to iphone for size

even when the lid is off, the brush is still protected

to use, simply pull down the metal surrounding and tada!

flat top loveeee <3

amazing density and softness! i could feel it all dayyy :)

hehe sumo eyeing my kabuki.. i think she wants one too!!

Anyways, enough with pictures, lets get onto the review!

As usual, we'll start with the good :)
oh my, where to start? theres SO many things i love about this brush its not even funny! I guess we'll look at packaging first.. im a huge fan of keeping a retractable brush in my purse for touchups. They are much more compact and stay well protected and clean. The packaging for the miss taylor kabuki is not only functional, but absolutely gorgeous! I know it seems like pink is the only color in my world, but i really cant resist a gorgeous purple! <3 LOVE!

note: this is also available in black and red, as well as a pink but only as part of a set

Next, lets look at the brush itself! Its got the same amazing density, which picks up products easily and buffs it into your face seamlessly. The sigmax fibre is the HG material for foundation brushes! It not only allows for "HD definition" as the site puts it, but i really think that these bristles absorb alot less product! This means that you can now use less product, get more out of it, waste less and therefore end up saving yourself some money :)

Comparison with the Sigma F80

size difference

bristles comparison: f80 on left, miss taylor on right

the miss taylor kabuki seems to be wider and slightly bigger than the f80, i actually prefer the bigger surface area because i find it easier to buff in my foundation.

side comparison

Just a thought...
With a retractable kabuki, you can totally adjust the width of your brush! How? Well, you simply hold the metal casing that slides up to protect your brush, at whatever height you want! The higher you bring it, the smaller the width of the brush will be. This may be a bit hard to get used to at first (as you will need to hold onto this metal casing), but it can come in useful if you have hard to reach areas and that large width of the brush just wont work!

Before I get carried away, lets hear the bad
At first, i totally got carried away and felt that nothing could be wrong with this brush, its got everything i loveeee in it! and dont get me wrong, there really isnt much bad things to say about this brush.

BUT to be the picky blogger who has to show the full sides of the whole product, i do have some slight points to mention. (not that any of these would really change my mind about recommending this to everyone i see and know)

firstly, because of the density of the bristles, this brush will take longer to dry after you wash it.. which sucks because that means you might have to skip a morning without this brush if you decided to do some last minute cleaning late last night. I would recommend you washing this earlier than your other brushes so that it can dry in time for when you need it the most :) Secondly, the metal casing that slides up to protect the brush? i find it to be a tad loose.. Not so loose that it will fall down on its own, but loose in the fact that when i buff my foundation into my face, i hear a slight "click click" noise as the metal casing bounces up and down. Not a huge deal, but something you should know in case you one who gets annoyed easily lol

Overall though, i would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this brush to anyone and everyone! It is just as amazing as the F80 if not better  *gasp* :) I have it stored safely in my makeup bag in my purse now and its staying there forever :) I am even considering purchasing another just to use in my morning routine, but that would be too greedy wouldnt it? haha i just love it so much :)

Anyways, i hope you enjoyed this review! As with my previous Sigma F80 review, I will be hosting a giveaway so that one of my lucky followers will be able to win their own Miss Taylor Flat Top Kabuki!! I will be posting the giveaway details in the next few days so if you're not following me already, please do so so that you will be notified once the giveaway post is up! Until then, have a great week everyone :)

From Sigma's new sigmax brush line, the F80 is one of three brushes which allow for high definiton, flawless makeup application. The shape, density and height of the filaments were carefully engineered to perfectly buff products onto the skin, resulting in a high definition effect."

Pros:
- bristles are very soft and dense
- bristles dont absorb too much foundation (less wasted product)
- great for stippling giving you an airbrushed effect
- good coverage achieved

Cons:
- some fallout during wash and first few uses
- smaller surface area meaning slightly longer time to cover entire face
- only available through sigma's website

Thoughts after 2 months usage:

My Favourite Products of 2010

Hi everyone :)

Before i start reviewing and swatching all my new goodies :), i thought i should do a little post to wrap up my 2010! I know this is a bit late, but better late than never! :D so, here are my all time favourite products of 2010 :) I use most of these products on a daily basis, some i have even repurchased once or several times!

note: Since there are a TON of products i want to mention, i will try not to go into full details about each product unless it is one i have never reviewed on this blog. Otherwise, i will put links under the products i have previously reviewed that will direct you to the review post :)

Favourite Face/Skincare Products of 2010

1. Revlon Photoready Foundation in Nude
Im almost done my first bottle and i do plan on repurchasing once im done :) i know it does has some shimmer which some people might not like, but i dont think its too noticeable once applied. What i love about it is that is gives pretty good coverage, helps evens out my skintone and is very nice for photos :) i also LOVE the pump! its probably the best pump i've ever used as it allows you to pump out as much or little as you need <3

2. Maybelline Mineral Power Concealer
-review here-

3. Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder - translucent
Im already finishing my second compact, so you can really tell how much i love this lol i apply this daily with my ELF kabuki brush to set my foundation. What i love about it is that its easy to use (in pressed form so its not messy), does a great job of setting my makeup so i dont look shiny, keeps my oily tzone matte for the whole day, annnd its cheap to buy! I also use this with a small fluffy brush to set my concealer and it helps alot! :)

4. Clarisonic Classic in Pink

-review here-

5. Neutrogena Oil-Free Fresh Moisture
This is my all time favourite moisturizer!! I know im weird, but i dont like using creams or lotions on my face because it feels too heavy and oily for my already oily skin. so i tend to stick to only using gel moisturizers and this one is my HG. although its got a gel like consistency, it feels as moisturizing as any other cream lotions but absorbs much faster and leaves behind nice silky soft skin :)

i have repurchased this moisturizer so many times i have lost count and im almost done the tube i have now! so its about time i go repurchase another :) unfortunately, the last few times i went searching for this, i couldnt find it! i am SOO worried that its getting discontinued so next time i find one, im stocking up like no tomorrow!!

--------------------------------------

Favourite Eye Products of 2010

1. Urban Decay Naked Palette
- review here -

 2. Wet n' Wild Coloricon Palettes
- review here -

3. Stila Smudgepot in Bronze
I dont normally venture outside drugstore products too often, but i am SO glad i did for this one! I love love love this product and have used up quite a big chunk of it lol (pretty much used it everyday since i got it!) i chose the shade bronze because black seems too heavy for day-to-day wear, but aside from color, the formula itself is amazing! super soft and creamy, but once its on, it stays on! i love it and will most definitely repurchase once im done!

4. Covergirl Lashblast Volume - waterproof
This has been my favourite mascara ever since i first started using it. Although it doesnt volumize as much as id like, it definitely lengths and darkens my lashes nicely. The best part about this, is that it holds my straight asian lashes in a curl for the whole freaking day! *yay* my lashes are so stubbornly straight that not alot of mascara can hold them up, but this one does and since its cheap & readily available, im not switching mascaras for awhile!

mascara runner-up : Loreal Voluminous in Black Brown
Sometimes when i want more volume in my lashes, i use this mascara first and then a layer of covergirl after. I really like this mascara as well because it really helps add volume and thickness to my lashes. I chose the shade in black brown so i could wear this on its own for lazymakeup days :) but overall, if covergirl never came out with their lashblast, this would be my mascara!

----------------------------------

Favourite Lip Products of 2010

1. Nivea Essential or A Kiss of Moisture
- review here -

2. Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine
Along with my nivea tubes, i also LOVE this stufff! It smells heavenly (like butterscotch *yumm*) and gives my lips just the perfect amount of moisture. I tend to use this in the morning after i wash and moisturize my face. then after im done applying makeup, my lips will be all ready and prepped up for any lipstick/gloss i plan on putting on for that day :) the only thing i dont like about this is the application method as it comes in a small jar.. so its not as sanitary as others. still, i love both the packaging and the product inside!

3. Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Nude Blush
- review here -

4. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipglosses - all shades
These lipglosses are the best lipglosses ever! Although i do have to say the pigmentation could be slightly better, and the color choices could be slightly wider, i absolutely love the formula! it is soo smooth and 100% not sticky! I know alot of people dont mind the stickness, but i for one cant stand it! So these lipglosses are perfect for me and currently, my favourite shade is Life's a Peach :)

-----------------------------

Favourite Blushes of 2010

1. Annabelle - Rapture
2. ELF - Candid Coral (swatch)

Favourite Skin Boosters & Serums of 2010

1. The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost
Great as a primer and a skin boost! This not only smells sooo good! (think oranges!) but also has a silky texture that is great for prepping your skin for makeup :) Plus, its supposed to make your skin less dull and i think its done a great job!

2. Loreal Lash Serum
i lovee this stuff! you apply it day and night on your lashes and its supposed to make them thicker, longer and healthier! although i dont have crazy results, i do notice that my lashes are alot healthier now in that less fall off during makeup removal. Plus, i do notice slight thickening and lengthing and i am soo excited :D <3

3. My Beauty Diary Masks - Natto & Aloe Vera
- review here -

-----------------------------------

and i think that about sums it up :) theres probably  a ton of other products i wish i could mention and it took me a long while to narrow it down to the list i have above lol. but overall, im happy with the ones i chose :) Starting with next post, there will be a TON of new swatches and reviews :) i hope you're all as excited as i am! take care!
